Make sure your kids are handy to help you tomorrow (Saturday). The category is Disney characters.

I hope you all watched Dumbo and Snow White as a kid.

Oh yeah, we will all get the same questions. I think it will be a mix of new & old movies/cartoons. Not certain.

As long as it doesn't ask where Mickey Mouse went to college I should be ok.:gun1:

Darth is right, you guys need help. And Darth should know a thing or two about needing help....

A couple of "fun facts" about our good friend Darth Tater:

- Darth Tater's initials are actually O.C.D.

- Darth Tater never tips. Instead he puts the money into a little jar entitled "Stat Tracker Fund".

- Darth Tater actually changed the date of his wedding because it conflicted with his league's live draft.

- While he didn't invent the idea of "rent a player", Darth Tater has employed the strategy so often in fantasy sports that the move has been nicked named "Tatering".

- Likewise, the expression "You've been Tatered" is used when a fantasy sports owner gets beat in a head-to-head match-up by someone who has employed the "rent-a-player" strategy.

LOL. It's built into the system. I have no control over that. I often do take the quiz early, but that's because I'm on mountain time and often still awake and on the computer when it kicks over to the new quiz. Sometimes I've got a few minutes to go before leaving for work so I'll take it then.

I'm not good at many of these subjects as my scores would indicate, but I try to keep it mixed to give everyone a shot at doing good on some days.

If people want, I can change the board weekly, bi-monthly or monthly so we stick to a category longer. I can also make the categories blind so you don't know what category will be on the agenda for the following day.

I do have control over the shout box (I can erase all the messages) at any given time, or post a display message and get rid of the box. As far as other stuff like scoring, I have no influence.

I can take it early too, but since I have senior moments, I like to see how the rest of the folks are scoring before I take a shot at it. Plus sometimes my thoughts are clearer in the day time. With that being said, I still have only scored a 10 once so I guess it doesn't matter what time I take it. :nerd2:

I was going to try and cheat by moving my computer's time zone, but I couldn't figure out if I should set it to Paris time or Hawaii time.

detteam
08-16-2007, 08:23 PM
The only thing I understand about the point system is that if the top two people tie on number of correct answers and for elapsed time, the player playing first is deemed 'the winner'. I don't understand why the second person is given two fewer points instead of calling a 'tie' or to initiate a playoff round on that day's topic for just the involved parties.

This seems to be a clear case of 'time zone' discrimination. I have talked with a legal firm and they've agreed to take the case. They are currently drafting a class action lawsuit against funtrivia.com and Darth Tater on behave of all affected parties. They're working on contingency...they demand only Tater's bowl of fruit and his funtrivia bucks in return of a favorable judgment.

BTW Tater...I meant to post a story I read last week. It was called something like "10 Signs Fastasy Leagues Are A Problem"..but I can't find the link now...sorry :( ;)

Dumars4Ever

I'm not sure that a tie goes to whomever played first. It might be that the website records the times down to some more specific level, like tenths of a second, but only displays the round number in the standings. Although I guess that might be giving it too much credit.

I'm not too young, but I hated this show even as a kid. I mean really whose family was like that family? If they looked in on that family twenty years later, everyone is in therapy twice a week. Guaranteed.

I just want to be fair to everyone.

Guys like Jammer and Webz play every day and are at a disadvantage not living in this country since most categories are USA biased. I'm pretty sure they feel like we Americans feel on the UK type stuff when we take some of those "foreign" quizzes.

I'm hoping everyone has fun beating up on everyone else and laughing at ourselves when we bomb. Sometimes it's not very fair. I'll take the test some days and afterwards my wife will take it and the questions can be very different. Sometimes one of us will get a really easy quiz and get 10 correct while the other gets a quiz which is really really tough.

Remember, your family members and friends are all welcome to play.

The thing that hurts me the most is that I'm relatively slow (as you've noticed), but I've learned I hurt myself more when I rush.

So the first full month of trivia is in the books. Prof and I had a nice battle going all the way through. It looked like he was going to pull it out thanks to my inferior knowledge about pets, alcoholic beverages, and bathtub fixtures, but then he faded at the end...just like the Pistons going into halftime. :sssh: :lol:Congrats D4! :thumb:

I thot prof had you pinned a few days ago, but you rallied while prof had some off rounds.

Not meant as a slight to other players, but both of you guys amaze me...both in accuracy and speed. Hat's off to both of you! I'm looking forward to another impressive battle in Sept :)

gotta hand it to d4, he stayed consistent and clutch at the end. i think some part of my brain got tired legs and i probably would have been wiser if i'd played more of the bench part of brain, you know, some of the younger neurons in some of the earlier rounds. that way my veteran, all star neurons would have been strong at the finish.

Could be poor bloodflow to the brain. But anyone who can even read and comprehend and click 10 questions in less than 40 seconds is superhuman.

The thing that hurts me the most is that I'm relatively slow (as you've noticed), but I've learned I hurt myself more when I rush.I concur...I'm slow too. The correct answer to many questions I have no clue on can often be deduced by the process of elimination. 5-10 extra seconds working one thru can mean 90-95 in additional score.

at the risk of emobodying the stereotype of the snobby literature professor, i have to say i really don't think the dark tower series is such an important literary work. certainly not enough to merit the proportion of literature questions devoted to it. a little variety in the literature category would certainly be nice.

I read the entire Dark Tower series, so I have to admit I like getting those questions. That being said, when I use the Literature category, I have no control over what questions they ask.

I could choose a more specific "customized" category. Let me know what you guys want. It will also give us all the same questions.

But if we want general lit, for some reason (pardon me while I twist a Darwin quote)... the fun trivia god has an inordinate fondness for the Dark Tower series.

I had no idea it was such an important literary work.King's Dark Tower series is la watershed moment in American literature. Before the Dark Tower, you had series spanning 3 at the most. Some books managed 6 but were really 2 trilogies combined. King went to 7.

Worst question of all time...

8. If a quiz is really simple, should this quiz be rated better than a difficult quiz?

Your Answer: I never rate quizzes, who cares
The correct answer was No, you shouldn't rate a quiz on the difficulty. You should rate on the overall quality of the quiz..

Today's quiz wasn't custom so theoretically we all got different ones. However, sometimes the same questions are on different quizzes and sometimes by pure chance a person will get the same quiz. I think it's a timing thing too. If you and I both took the quiz at say...2:36 pm, I think we get the same one because me and this other guy tried it once in the old days. But you can also get the same quiz at a different time.
