After the non-waiver trade deadline passed Tuesday and the Minnesota Twins (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20071420/#) didn't acquire any impact players, ace left-hander Johan Santana questioned his future with the team, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reported.

"We've been close," Santana said, the newspaper reported. "And in all those times, we seem to be a couple players away from winning it all. So I respect all the decisions they make, but I won't say that they're right all the time.

"They protect their young players. They protect their organization, their roots, everything. But I guess I won't be a part of it. A lot of guys don't feel like they can be part of it, and they have to move on."

What would that do? I don't think they'd trade him this year. Looks like he may be traded in the offseason or the next year. Minni is not going to spend the money, so they're not going to compete in the near future.

Minni is not going to spend the money, so they're not going to compete in the near future. We have another 6 games against the Twins...all in the last few weeks of the regular season...with the likelihood that we'll see Santana 2 more times in what looks to be a tight race all the way. A trade before the deadline would have likely sent him to the NL...meaning we wouldn't see him at all.

The Tigers are 3-1 against the Twins this year when Santana pitches. I think the Tigers will have at least one more season to face him as a Twin, though.

Heck with Santana.............He'll be gone from the Twins soon enough when he signs his next contract. The real problem is how many Tigers will be gone when their contracts are up.????

That probably depends a lot upon whether they can win the Series this year.

Most of the roster is signed for at least 3 more years, so nothing to worry about for the foreseeable future.
