A player who I liked is gone before he could get his life straight. Eddie Griffin had tons of potential, but could never get his head screwed on right. He was 6-10 with Sheed like range and could just flat out ball when he was on it. I would have loved to see this kid play more with KG last year, and would have loved to see him traded to us a few years back to play with Ben and Sheed. A waste of talent pure and simple..

Former Timberwolves F/C Eddie Griffin was identified today as the driver who was killed last week in Texas when he drove his SUV around a gate and hit a train. There's no toxicology report yet, but the reports discuss his problems with alcohol, which make the wild story about his crash last year a little more believable. What a shame that a young guy with so many opportunities in life wasn't able to get it together. He was only 25.

It's a shame that the body was burned so bad that it took 4 days to ID him and they needed dental records to do it.

At 6"10 an APB should have been put out on all NBA teams to check to see if all their big men were live and accounted for.

With all of the problems he had no wonder no one in this forum ever brought up his name as possible big man to come off the bench and take his six fouls...I had him on one of my fantasy squads a couple years ago and he did deliver in the blocks category.....

God rest his soul.

What a shame. I guess money and fame can't help you get your soul straight.

Rest In Peace, Eddie.

No toxicology report so far. But I guess he had substance abuse issues.

Terrible ending for anyone. There is a lot that we don't know, but the media made sure we knew he was an alcohlic and that may have attributed to his death.

Too many people out there without any friends to talk to. Many famous guys like Eddie just have hangers on who just suck away their money. Sounds like Eddie just needed some close friends. What a waste.......

Eddie was 3 times over the legal limit when he crashed his suv.

This might seem rude and disrespectful of a life disrespected by it's owner, but the re-birth of this thread made me search for one of the funniest posts I recall on this forum:
