Which Lions team will show up? More importantly, which Lions D will show up? The one that dominated the line of scrimmage and forced turnovers in Weeks 1 and 2 or the one that missed tackles and was pushed around all day in Philly.

Which is worse, the Bears O or the Lions D? Which is better, the Lions O or the Bears D?

Bears will intimidate the Lions even before the game starts. Figure on another big loss. Bears have to keep up with the Packers.........

Bears might get back on track in this game if they ditch Grossman for Griese. Actually, they might have to ditch their entire offense. On the rare occasions when Grossman wasn't throwing horrible passes last night against the Cowboys, his receivers were either dropping balls that hit them in the hands or running the wrong routes.

Bears should regroup against us quite well, like Eagles did.
Until we can minumize turnovers and find a defensive playcaller we'll suck.
Lions 14 + 3 t/os
Bears 20 + 1 t/os
I wonder if KJ can help?

There is hope.
DT Harris is out, hopefully we can handle his backup.
Lovee may stick with Grossman who isn't getting it done.
No Mike Brown, he is out.
-
We're deep at WR so if CJohnson can't go Furrey and McDonald should flurish.

Can we get a better outcome if Kitna gets over 400 yds again?

An "anonymous" source claims that Griese will replace Grossman on Sunday.

ESPN - Report: Griese to replace Grossman as Bears' QB - NFL (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3036174)

Griese isn't exactly Payton Manning, but I think he'll do a better job against the really, really bad Lions D than Grossman would have.

Confirmed...ESPN new conference by Lovie today that Brian Griese will start against the Lions Sunday. Grossman is dissapointed saying that just needed a couple more games to get the offense going.......News out of ABC Sports department is that Bob Griese is happy as a lark and will call the next Michigan game with much more enthusiasm:)

I wonder what Grossman is smoking? He played like garbage for a while. Not sure what he's expecting after that. I understand the frustration, but you have to perform to play in NFL.

Roy Williams is flapping his mouth again. Nothing to spectacular, but trash talk none the less. I like - and agree with - Urlacher's response.

Roy Williams, commenting on the injuries to both of Chicago's starting corners:
"No disrespect to those corners, but even if they were in there we would still take advantage of those two," said Williams, who has scored at least one touchdown in all three games this season.

Urlacher probably won't be surprised when he hears that statement. He already thinks the Lions players do too much talking -- from Williams' belief the Lions would score 40 points a game last year to quarterback Jon Kitna saying during the preseason the Lions should win 10 games this year.Brian Urlacher's response:

"I think the last three years in a row now one of them has said something, so actually it does kind of amuse me," Urlacher said.
What exactly amuses Urlacher about the Lions' comments?
"The fact that they keep making them," he said, adding that Williams' math just doesn't add up. "Last year, let me see. The first game they had six (points), which was pretty close to 40. If you add the seven to that, it's 13. I'm sure by game five or six they had it."
I absolutely agree with Urlacher. I've said it before - especially with regard to Roy Williams - JUST SHUT UP AND PLAY!!!

NICHOLAS J. COTSONIKA: Roy Williams boasts, responds to Bears' Urlacher (http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070928/SPORTS01/709280330/1049)

Williams said he soon would win the championship belts for dominoes, spades and tonk (a card game), too, and be the "undisputed, unanimous" champ of the locker room.
"You've got to be the best at everything you do," Williams said. "Beating up on my teammates is a good feeling."
See? Williams doesn't talk like this just about the Bears or Urlacher. He talks like this about everything and everyone, publicly and privately.
"If we had a bowling champion, I would be the bowling champion," Williams said. "If we had a cooking champ, I would be the cooking champ. I'm good at everything."
It's just Roy being Roy.

Is it just me, or does Roy remind anyone else of the publicity magnets that Moss & TO are? Similar massive egos. And IMO Roy's mouth is bigger than the two of them combined. There's a part of me that wants Urlacher to flatten him on a crossing route if Kitna dares to put Roy in that position...and I don't care if it results in a turnover.

Those two were detrimental to their teams. Roy does positive things, other than dropping some balls because he's trying to gain yards before he catches it. I think those are primary differences.

Sounds like there's more Bear fans than Lion fans at Ford.

Seems like there were more Wolverine fans in Illinois yesterday than Northwestern fans, so it equals out when the cities are that close together.

How bout them 3-1 Lions?? Set NFL record by scoring 34 points in the 4th quarter. This game was not really won until deep into the 4th on that on side kick TD by the Lions Fitzsimmons.

Kitna went 20-24 and 247 yards but still need to get that ground game running and shore up that secondary.

The Lions frontline defense did force some fumbles, hurries, sacks and INTs so there is a possibility that the Lions could finish over .500...and maybe get those 10 wins???

Griese threw for 286 yards and I am not sure if Grossman would not have done that well so Lovie should probably stick with him. When is the last time the Superbowl loser made the playoffs??

Wow, I just got home from work and saw that the Lions won!

Just looking at the box score and some things stood out:

- 34 fourth Q points by the Lions?!?

- Casey Fitsimmons kickoff return for a TD?!?!?!?!?!?!?! (that's more than Eddie Drummond had all last season by the way)

- DeVries had a MONSTER game with 5 tackles, 3 sacks and 2 FFs

- Roy Williams with yet another turnover, keeping him right on his average of 1 per game this season.

I wasn't even able to record the game because it wasn't on satellite in my area, and I know that the box scores can be deceiving. What did I miss?

I would love for them to beat the Skins, however, I don`t see it happening.

Fitsimmons return was of an onside kick with less than a minute to go just after the Bears scored a TD to make it 30-27.

The last 2-3 minutes of the game seemed like it took a half hour. They reviewed EVERYTHING.

One thing that really stands out thus far about this Lions team; they would be 0-4 or 1-3 in past seasons, at this point.

They are actually winning games they usually lose!

Random stuff from the game:

- Looks like George "False Start" Foster was finally benched during this game. He was replaced in the 2nd Q after his man was left unguarded for a sack and after "earning" his SEVENTH false start penalty in less than 3 and a half games.

"After I came to the sideline after that series, the coach made a decision to put Jonathan in and we went with it,'' said Foster

- Jeff Backus got the start today despite pulling a muscle in his rib in last week's game. It was Backus' 100th consecutive NFL start. While not a star, Backus is a solid LT and 100 consecutive starts - especially on this team - is impressive.

"I think it's pretty cool,'' Backus said. "I was talking to my wife earlier in the week about how disappointing my career's been to this point with all the losing. The one thing I can be really proud of persevering and being able to play with some injuries and start 100 games. This isn't anything against the guys I played with in the past but we just haven't been very good. We haven't done a whole lot of things to be proud of. This is the one thing I can be proud of.''

- WR Troy Walters got some PT due to the injury to Calvin Johnson and caught his first career TD in the game. The catch was originally called out of bounds but was reversed after the Lions challenged.
"I caught it and I knew I tapped my feet, but I didn't know if my toe was out of bounds or what,'' said Walters, who recorded his first career touchdown catch. "In this offense, when one guys goes down, they expect the next guy to step up and make plays and was fortunate enough to make some plays, but we need Calvin back. Hopefully, he'll be ready next week.''

- The successful challenge on Walters' TD was the first challenge win on the season. They are now 1 for 6 on the season in challenges. They are also 0-2 in calling for a challenge when they should have when the other team hurried to the line just to call a spike so that the Lions couldn't eventually call for a challenge after the woke up. (as far as I know, that isn't an actual stat that is recorded by the league, so it's an "unofficial jammer stat")

I liked Marinelli's response.
"I mean, if I didn't win that one, shoot me in the head,'' Marinelli said

- Good news Lions fans. Matt Millen isn't going anywhere. Today's game was his 100th at the helm of this team. His record is a glowing 27-73. Hard to fire a guy with stats like that.
When asked what he'd say to people who maintain that keeping Millen on board has been a mistake, Ford replied, "I don't say anything to them. Matt's got the job, what do I care? I don't think I need any vindication. I made a decision and I stuck by it. That's it.''

- Shaun Rogers got the 11th blocked kick of his career in today's game. I'm not sure what the league record is, but I'd imagine that he has to be close. Anyone know?

- LB Ernie Sims got the first INT of his career.

- Mike Furrey caught 5 passes for a team high 91 yards in the game. Furrey has 5 catches in each of the Lions' 4 games this season.

- Shaun McDonald caught his 3rd TD pass of the season, which ties his career high

- Kevin Jones has scored a TD in both games he has played in since returning for injury

It has already been mentioned that the Lions set an NFL record by scoring 34 points in the fourth quarter. The teams also set a record in today's game with 48 combined points in the fourth quarter.

Going into today's game with the Bears' horrible offense and the Lions' "suspect" (I'm being nice) defense - especially after last weeks game - who would have ever thought that these teams would have set 2 league scoring records?!?!

Whatever records they broke or not is not important. They won a game, so there's something positive. But they have to win a few more before anyone can say that they're turning the corner.

I'm going to jinx them, but so what.

I think the Lions are pretty decent this year. That was an awesome comeback, and every time I doubt Martz, his offense comes up big. We'd probably be 4-0 if we played any defense against Philly.

I'm excited. I'll be even more excited if we can get a real QB in this system. Kitna can make the throws, but he's got the intelligence of a roll of nickels. Imagine if we had an Eli Manning or a Drew Brees. Scary.

Btw, I realized today that Fatneck Raiola isn't getting as much camera time as he used to. Maybe it's because this team has a leader or two on offense now. I used to get so pissed off when he would walk around with his helmet off, face flush red and sweaty, screaming like a heat stroked ape. Looks like the line coach has found a way to help him overcome his physical and mental deficiencies. :gun1:

Is head coach Rod Marinelli letting the 3-1 start get to his head? He told the Detroit Free Press that his Lions are on their way to being "an elite team." Might want to play another elite team first -- the Lions' first four opponents are a combined 5-11.
