Advanced League Live Draft - Sunday Oct. 21 at 6:45 pm EST
This gives us some time to do some wheelin' and dealin' before the season kicks off.
Here's a couple of tips:
Don't forget to pre-rank your players just in case you are unable to attend or run into technical difficulties on draft night. That being said, I strongly suggest you attend the draft as it is easily one of the highlights of the entire season. If you've never been a part of one, you are in for a treat. Yahoo provides a great interface.
The draft will be a snake draft, meaning that each round the draft order will reverse. The last person to pick will be the first person to pick the following round.
Draft order will be revealed just prior to the start of the draft, will be visible by opening the java applet, and is determined randomnly by Yahoo. I'd also suggest that you use the option provided by Yahoo (available now) that allows you to test if the Java application works properly for you. Trust me, it sucks to be there draft night just to find out that you can't get to the draft screen. Save yourself the headache and get it working before draft day.
Let's do our homework and get ready to have an exciting season!
Happy Drafting!

Any thoughts on who you think the #1 draft pick will be?

well, i haven't prepared or pre-ranked, i've got family over today, and i might not be present for all of the draft. so hopefully things won't go too poorly.
either way i'm covering myself with a myraid of excuses in case my draft sucks :D

I'd bet on KG. Otherwise Darko...the next KG.

If I go #1 it will be a waste, because I am taking a guy who is not supposed to go #1

I'm taking Kevin Durant with the number one pick. BF has me convinced.

I'm guessing Garnett or Kobe....

Kobe seems like a solid pick. Even if he leaves LA, he will probably go to a team where he is the #1, #2, and #3 option.
Garnett could be interesting. he may see a decrease in his numbers with Pierce and Allen on the team.

I think Garnett is a great choice.
As usual, Kobe is off my list. I hate him too much to root for him.
With 16 people drafting, it kinda changes things a bit. I might have to let the force guide me in the early picks...lol

Garnett is good, but if I have the first pick I might not pick him because he actually has some great players around him now. That can really effect his numbers.
Kobe is kind of unmotivated right now, so I do not know if I would pick him. Same goes with LeBron because Cleveland has done nothing this offseason. I have no idea who I will choose first.

I see Garnets stats dropping a tad because of the help in Ray and Pierce..no doubt he is a top three pick though with Kobe and LBJ also in that top three

Anyone know how long Amare Stoudomire is going to be out? Last I heard it was a month???

Or maybe his stats increase because he is surrounded by two other all-stars that make it difficult to double team. The advantage they have is that each of them play distinctly different positions.

Yesterday Yahoo reported that he is fully expected to be fit & ready for the season opener.

i read that too. he should be good to go at tip off or at the most a few days.
motown gets the number 1 pick. there is a conspiracy going on here with commissioners.

the draft application is up - you can launch it now. unless the order changes, it looks like motown and tater get the #1 and #2 picks (cheaters!). this is going to be an extremely interesting draft with 16 teams...i have a feeling everyone's going to be flawed in some way or another

Boy that was a lot tougher than the novice league. I felt like i painted my self into a corner. I couldn't believe my luck at getting my 1st 3 picks but trying to build around my core while not reaching too far proved to be a lot more difficult. Overall, I feel like i got a good mix of small stats while not sacrificing the big ones too much. I did grab too many pg/sg so will have to go fishing the WW seas shortly.

I think I had a pretty good draft. I am not so sure about Posey though. I will see how he does the first week, and then see if I should keep him.

Tough draft.
I'm going to rest my eyes and then take a firm look to see who the winners and losers are. Overall, very impressive draft fellas!

i didn't do much research before the draft, but i had a basic strategy combined with basing my picks off what everyone else was doing. i think i accomplished my goals, not as much as i would've liked, but with 16 players it was very difficult (and long!).
the hardest choice i had to make was the #5 pick in the first round and still having kobe, dirk, and arenas on the board, and then opting for dirk.
a few other occasions i was about to pick up a sleeper and then he went 4-5 picks before i had a chance...and again with 16 people it's no surprise that at least a couple others were eyeing the same person.
but great draft, great atmosphere, and this is going to be a great season!

With 4th pick, I had Kobe, La Bron and Arenas available and went with Labron who help me at least get to the finals last year....but alas like the Cavs, I finished as runner up too. I got a couple of other guys in Kaman, McGrady, Brevin Knight and Baron Davis who are injury prone and I can only hope that they give me 75+ games this season. The rest are probably available for trade and the waiver wire.., but give me three weeks to get them to gel as a team.....:)

I hope Kobe does not get too unmotivated.

I was hoping to land J-Kidd with the 7th pick, but when Gilbert was still available, I couldn't resist.
This is the 1st time I have played in a league this large so its hard to get a handle on how I drafted.

i was planning on getting josh smith at 14 but Gasol was available so i had to get him. luckily, i was able to get josh right after.

Thats the nice thing about drafting near the top of bottom. Mid pack like I was it was a stretch between picks.

Well, I am content. Hopefully my team is competitive, but I know even if it isn't it will still be fun watching Nash, Joe Johnson and Antawn Jamison. All some of my favorites. I would have grabbed Arenas instead of Nash, but I think he will start off rusty before heating up.
Darko is always fun to follow (blocks & stuff) and Stuckey may do OK too.
I don't have a clue what my strengths & weaknesses are.
I don't know much about the players out there, but I really didn't see any teams that stood out much either way.
This should be a battle.

Nice pick up of Yi, Slippy.
That guy had a really nice game a couple days ago. I was reading somewhere yesterday that they think he is really going to be a good fantasy player this year.

yeah he's doing pretty good but i think i have to trade him in for a 3 pt shooting mo-fo.
I am still pretty happy with how I drafted. Been playing without 3 of the big guns Bibby, Amare Stoudimire and Stephen Jackson so its hard to get a good read on my team. So far I have not found anyone on the wire that I felt was better than one of my players.
I am open to trade offers though.

Your guy Paul Millsap was a good steal and a one man wrecking machine so far tonight. 5-6 shooting from the field and 9-9 FT and 4 steals, thru the end of the 3rd qtr that allowed you to take control of the those three categories in the late games. Even though Labron had a triple-double thru 3, he missed 6 FT and 10 FG's:messer:

Yes but 15 boards and 13 assists from Lebran ain't bad.
So far Millsap has been great. Rubin Patterson had 1 rebound and 1 TO last night.
I should be getting Jackson back this week ( 7 game suspension ) and hopefully Amare ( knee swelling). Make the weekend interesting.
