Purportedly for Walker, Doleac, and Simien.

I don't know who loses this one. Walker was out of shape but is he as selfish and immature as Davis?

I don't know about this one...

this trade makes no sense to me- Minnesota really needs a scorer and they trade away their only scorer besides Jefferson for Fatoine and some scrubs? Has he slept with the coach's wife or what?
For Miami, this is a nice upgrade, but I can't see Wade and Davis getting along together too well.

Yeah, I don't get it. They already have a ton of quality forwards.

are you serious or sarcastic? Just asking because I'm not that good at recognizing it, especially in written language at pf.com!
And because of the word "already"- that would mean Walker is a quality forward!?!?!

Here is the link. I think it gives a couple of answers to the questions about the trade.

It would be a clearing the house move by Minni. They get contracts that expire and ship out people they don't want around. Heat gets a slight upgrade.

I don't know where that comes from. Davis hasn't had any problems in Minny that I'm aware of. That was a knock on him when he came into the league, but he left that behind during his days in Boston even.

Yeah. It does seem an odd place to shore up - if we assume that DWade will be back near the beginninng of the season and in top shape, it doesn't make much sense unless you plan for Ricky to play PG or SF.

Clearly shop / salary cleaning by Minn. Miami is desperate for wing scoring and Ricky might be best they can get for that cast of characters.

Ricky can play SF. It would be an interesting lineup with Wade, Parker, Davis, Haslem, and O'Neal.

I would never have believed that Davis is 6'7" (compared to Wade at 6'4"). I've always thought of him as a little guy. At that size he ought to make much more of an impact.

I was reffering to Minnesota having quality forwards. They can barely get Gomes time now and I thought he was the second best rebounder in Boston last year next to Al Jefferson. And no I don't consider Walker and Doleac quality.

Great. I have Davis and Blount on my fantasy team. Not only will this likely hurt their #'s, but they are now both one of the few teams I love to hate. It's hard to root for them to put up big #s when it will benefit the Miami Heat! :frusty::frusty::frusty:

Now I get it- I'm kinda slow at times.

Obviously the Pat Riley realizes that the Shaq-Wade-get-back-to-the-finals window is closing fast and what they had on the squad was a remnant of a one and done team. (umm, sounds like another team in Michigan:stirthepot:). Often wonder why Joe never tried something radical like this always relied on guys who weren't hungry enough to fight for another ring??? :stirthepot:

THE BIG TRADE: The Pistons, like most throughout the NBA, were buzzing about the five-player trade between Miami and Minnesota. The Heat received Ricky Davis and Mark Blount in exchange for Antoine Walker, Wayne Simien, Michael Doleac, a first-round pick and cash. The trade - at least for now - looks lopsidedly in favor of the Heat.
Adding Davis gives the Heat "a third, dynamic scorer," said Pistons coach Flip Saunders. "And Blount has been a starter in our league. They can play him as a backup to Shaq. It gives them another solid big man down there."

For Minnesota, ridding themselves of Davis and Blount means their top three scorers from a year ago, are all gone. The Timberwolves traded Kevin Garnett to Minnesota earlier this summer.

"They wanted to have young guys playing," said Saunders, who spent 10 seasons as the Timberwolves coach prior to coming to Detroit. "So I guess that's the direction they went, and they decided to pretty much go wholesale with that."

Couldn't the Pistons have made this same trade with T-Wolves and got Davis and Blount for Flip jr, Dupree and Mohammed? Flip sr should have had some inside info this one before it happen and gone to Joe to have him deal with McHale, before letting Riles get the Heat back in the mix of things with this trade. :stirthepot:

Yes I am a Miami hater and would rather see Davis getting 10 minutes on our bench than 20 on the Heat.. Davis is an upgrade over jr and Blount would be an upgrade over Nazr anytime.

...and dupree, well then we would have room for Sammy :)

Blount is pretty good.

Overall, a good trade for Miami.

Hopefully we were also in the running behind closed doors.

Davis is making $6.8 this year and is in the last year of his contract.
Blount is making $6.9 this year and it goes to $7.9 in two years

That is $13.7 add

Nazr is at $5.6
Flip is at $1.9
Dupree is at $.8

This is subtract $8.3

That is $5.4 add for us which takes us over the cap by a goodly amount.

Blount is not going to make a huge impact. Ricky Davis on the other hand could Daniel Gibson the Pistons in the playoffs if he gets little hot in the playoffs though.
