Did anyone see that yesterday? That must kill the young players on the Bulls. Kobe is very good, but the Bulls will have to give up a lot to get him. Chicago won't be that much better than L.A. after a trade like that occurs anyways.

Depends on who they give up IMO.
If they can land Kobe for Gordon and Wallace + future draft pick ( the last rumored trade I have heard) I think the Bulls will be far better than the current Lakers.

I heard that the Lakers will only do it if Luol Deng is involved in the package. I think it would be something with the young guys instead of Big Ben.

Why would Lakers want Ben and his contract? Lakers want Deng in the package. Kobe wouldn't want to go to Chicago if Deng and Gordon leave because there will not be enough left to win.

Perish the thought. I could not deal with Big Ben in a Laker uniform. He would look just horrible in that Laker yellow. Rip and then Ben Wallace were my first Pistons I was crazy over during the year of the championship. How strange it would be to see him playing against the Pistons as a Laker. Yuck.

This will never happen. A living dinosaur will walk out of the LaBrea tar pits before Ben Wallace winds up playing his home games in Hollywood adjacent.

Why are teams reluctant to make their best offer for Kobe?
I spoke to a number of NBA sources who have been engaged in or are familiar with the Bryant trade negotiations this summer. Almost all evidence from these conversations points to this conclusion:
Bryant's trade value isn't nearly as high as he or the Lakers would like to think.
Here are four questions teams are trying to answer before acquiring Bryant:

If the Bulls would have re-signed Tyson Chandler with his 14 rebounds per game and 68% FG percentage, they'd be rolling right now.
They wouldn't even be thinking about trading half their team away.

I wonder where that would have left Pistons. :stirthepot:

I think he makes about 1 1/2 valid points. To say that LeTravel and Dwyane "Bogus Call" Wade are better than Kobe is a lie. They might be a better help to their team as long as the ref is in their usual back pocket, but make them fight for it on their own, and I say Kobe beats them nine times out of ten.

I think there's one point that is important here - the mileage. Kobe has lots more wear on him comparatively to other two. That's why a team would think that LBJ and DWade could be a better option.

I think Paxson would be stupid to work a trade for Kobe with the team he has, but admit that I'd like to see Ben bring his brand of defense to the WC.
