Those 5 are interesting because I have always thought of them as great players.
Whose underrated players list, Whittenberg's?
To me Bad Boy Bill has to make that top 5 easy. He was like Zeke who hated but at least his skill were recognized. Outside of MI no one wanted to look at anything about Bad Boy Bill except his alleged dirty play.
:hoops:
I saw Bernard score 24 in one quarter after the knee injury. Amazing player.
Not sure about DJ or Rodman. DJ was a quality guard and a great guy to have on your team, but top 50? Don't think so. If Rodman had developed from the guy he was in those early seasons with Detroit he could have been a contender. But he backed away from most aspects of the game to become a much less complete player. Some good seasons, but on the MIA list with good reason.
I woulda rather had Adrian Dantley on the team then ole what's his name. That stinker of a player who was Isiah's buddy. Dantley deserved to win some NBA titles............Dantley could teach the current Pistons on "how to draw the foul"..............

I don't know if Adrian was a better player, just a better Piston.
If that makes any sense. :)

In his prime when he was with the Jazz for 8 years, playing under Sloan's predecessor, Frank Layden (yes for those of you not old enough to remember the Jazz have actually had other head coaches besides Sloan. LOL) AD averaged over 29.5 PPG over those 8 years.
He also played with both Stockton and Malone in his last year at Utah. They only won 42 games that year. I believe it was Stockton's second year and Malone's rookie year.

Aguirre did have about as diverse of an offensive skillset as one can have, height notwithstanding.

I would rather have an NBA title than not have one. Wasn't gonna happen with Dantley. He completely slowed down the offense with his post play. Made the offense too one-dimensional. He had to go. Great move by the Pistons on that one. Sometimes, it's all about chemistry, not just talent.

I loved AD--he was my favorite player when I was a kid--but you can't argue with the results of that trade. Maybe they still could have won the two titles without the trade--they were seconds away from one with him in '88, despite serious injuries to Isiah and Mahorn--but the post-trade results speak for themselves.

Dantley's problem is that he was a blackhole, and he didn't want to relinquish minutes to Rodman. Getting Aguirre changed the team dynamic, and allowed Dennis to blossom into a DPOY.

I loved AD as well. When he got traded, I loved Aguirre. I loved that team top to bottom. I loved that Aguirre didn't start every game and let Rodman develop.

Chuckles too. We'll never have another team like it. They were the BEST!
The current team and coach... uggh. I just can't get into it any more than checking the score the next day. I think a new coach would change my entire perspective, somehow.
I'm sorry, but that's really how I feel.

I didn't see Aguirre's name on "The Most Under Rated List". However, if we are going to turn this into a comparison of Aguirre with AD thread then I would agree that when Aguirre played with us he was a better player than when AD played with us.
Who was better for their career?
Aguirre played 13 seasons 923 games and averaged 20.0 PPG 5.0 RPG and 3.1 APG.
AD played 15 seasons 955 games and averaged 24.7 PPG 5.7 RPG and 3.0 APG.
I think for their careers it is too close to call as to which one was better even after taking their defensive skills into consideration and I can see the the arguments supporting each one of them as the better ballplayer for their respective careers.

I don't blame you. Everyone knows it's been different without this guy (http://youtube.com/watch?v=wzXzMW27MBg)
