View Full Version : Scrubs League post-draft talk
OK, so the draft didn't work out this time. Things that went wrong:
Some people's exclude list didn't work.
Roscoe's team didn't set the exclude list.
Some people had different exclude rankings.
Options as I see it are limited. We can do another Live Draft, however it is going to be late notice for everyone to do another this weekend probably, which means the league will not start until Week 4. By this time, a lot of NBA teams will be getting set in their rosters and takes away some of the fun of predicting who's going to play, etc...
I just don't see any other alternative. I can create another league and schedule another draft and will clarify the exclude list again for next week. But that's not to say that the same thing might happen again. The only way to be 100% sure of the draft working is for eveyone to be at the live draft.
Anyone else have any ideas?

I say the commisioner scans everyone's team and identify which players were supposed to be on the excluded list and each GM should drop those players. Other than Microwave, no one should have more than 1 or 2.
For Micro's team, he has to drop all of his players and we can all give him one of our leased desired players just as if he was a new team to the league and we can select another from the FA list
I would rather do that than go thru the draft again as we may have the same issue if everyone does not have time to participate at a live draft.

Could we hold an informal draft on PF and somehow input the selections to yahoo for a league start in maybe a couple weeks?

That kind of sucks. Roscoe was probably all excited thinking he was going to win a league, finally. :pound:
You guys should just leave things the way they are. Roscoe will end up trading away all of his stud players anyhow.

For the sake of expediency, I would be happy to drop and pick from the FA list, provided no one else makes any changes to their teams until I am done.
I can have this complete this evening.

I can't drop my players. I think the commish will have to.
If this is not possible, I will withdraw from the league and rejoin.

In the Yahoo rankings, for both the beginning of the season and current rankings ly, both Curry and Shaq are out side the top 140 > Curry was 369 and 175 and O'neal was 436 and 183.

I will drop the players for you. If you PM me the 9 guys from the waiver wire you want, I can add them to your squad today.
Thanks for be diplomatic about it 'Scoe. Your generosity will enable us to start in Week 3.

We aren't using Yahoo's rankings. We are using the pre-set rankings that are in the first post of the Signup thread. Last year we encountered problems because Yahoo's rankings constantly change. Therefore we are using 1 set exclude list for the whole season.
Aurora, Dre and Ralphie, please PM me 3 players you want to pick up, in preferencial order and I will add the first available in waiver priority order.

i wouldn't mind doing the forum draft, although i do like the team that yahoo drafted for me :) micro's team is STACKED!! hahaha
Roscoe's team is now finalised.
Once I get Ralphie's, Aurora's and Dre's player to add we are good to go starting this coming Monday. Waiver priority order has not changed.
Make sure you set your lineups. Remember that this is a weekly league, so lineups need to be set before Monday. You'll need to take into account things such as number of games played for the week, etc.

The technique of manipulating free agents has become known as Tatering.
By the end of this season, everyone will be screaming,
El Roscoe, Don't Tater me bro!
FYI all leaguers, LA Dre has been emailed regarding his pickup of Rajon Rondo who is on the excluded list.
Cheers.

Sorry I actually glanced at the excluded list and didn't notice his name there thinking that his first name was Rondo:). Honest mistake, I took Telfair instead who is probably playing better than Rondo anyway. Had to drop MJames as he was just sitting on the Rockets bench the last 2 games...

I didn't even think to look for him on the exclude list. I'll straighten it out by Sunday evening. Sorry.

Yeah, you would think he would have been available, but he was pimped quite highly by the experts coming into the season.

Wow it took me a while to find this thread. I knew we had one for scrubs league discourse.
So I just want to whine, OK? I hate that this is a weekly league. I really do. I have not forgotten to set lineups except one Monday in Novice League. But for the life of me I cannot remember to set this weekly lineup on Sundays. Consequently, on three different weeks I have ended up with injured guys from the previous week (Ronnie Brewer and Linus Kleiza) stuck on the bench for the entire next week. There is just something about it being weekly instead of daily that messes me up. I keep thinking it is weekly with the deadline on Monday.Sigh. Anyway it is seriously messing me up in Scrubs when I have starters sitting on the bench and bench players playing every game that week.
EXTREMELY IRRITATING. I dropped from second place to fourth because I had a lame lineup. Okay that's all the whining for now. Stay tuned.
P.S. When IS the deadline for weekly lineups anyway? Sunday when? Thanks.

yah i wish the deadline was monday cause i've forgotten too. it seems like a simple task but i know what aurora's talking about!
The deadline is Sunday night Midnight Pacific Time. (Can someone on the East coast confirm whether it is Midnight Eastern or 3am Eastern?) It is definitely Midnight Pacific over here.
The main reason this is a weekly lineup setting is because most of the people who were interested in the league only would've played this way.
The consesus was a 'Low-maintenance league' which meant Weekly lineups. To be honest, that's how it has gone so far considering the small amount of moves people are making (or perhaps I just have a shoddy team and require lots of changes)
Next season if I come back as Commish I will make a Poll/s with questions such as 'Weekly or Daily' and 'Sunday or Monday' lineup deadline, but the consesus prior to the start of this league is what you currently have in place.
Thanks for the feedback though.

Right now I only check it 2-3 times a week. On Sunday and a couple of times midweek. But I could have lived with a daily league

I like weekly. I don't get the complaint...if you are willing to keep tabs and play daily, how is playing weekly a problem? You don't have to set your lineup on Sunday...you can do it days in advance.

I haven't changed my lineup since the first week after the draft, and my team is in second place.
My Novice League team, where I set the lineups weekly I'm in last place.

Good luck to all in the post season :)

this is my 2nd victory in a row in a scrubs league- I'm glad I was able to confirm my last year's title (we had the draft a little bit too late as the season had already started and I got to pick first and took Kevin Martin)!
Although this victory was somehow bittersweet too, since the final result was 4-4 and I probably only won because of the regular season.
