This team looks awfully good on paper. But if one of their Big 3 go down, could be trouble. Right now, they're scoring 67 points between them. Their scoring averages are virtually the same.
They're outscoring opponents, on average, by 16 points a game.

I agree that Boston looks very good so far. I honestly didn't expect them to work together as well as they have this early in the season.
I would be concerned about Ray Allen's ankles through the rest of the season. He sat out about 1/3 of his games with the Sonics last year, and also underwent ankle surgery.

Boston is playing well. Besides playing well together they also get the whistles because of their names. The health is their main worry. But if they can stay healthy they should take the 1st in the east the way they are playing.

I agree with everyone else on the Celtics, however, even if the "Boston 3 Party" stays healthy they will need some production from their role players.
Rondo, Perkins, and House will need to be huge for the Celtics to go far in the post season.

Maybe we should have someone check and make sure that Arnie (Kander) is not moonlighting with them.

It seems like some?? are secretly hoping that one of the big 3 or maybe one of the key contributors goes down for awhile...Won't make any difference...the supporting cast will only get better and they will still be in the ECF. We just have to be there to end the dream teams' dream....

I think they'd be fine if they lost 1 guy for a period of time (not the playoffs though). Any 2 of those big 3 is still a very tough tandem.
December 19th will be VERY interesting. If we don't have a solid showing in our first couple matchups, does Joe try to go for a big move (ie Kobe)?

Rondo, Perkins, and House will need to be huge for the Celtics to go far in the post season.A normal game will look huge because those extra guys need to suck. With the big 3 being so effective, the Rondos and Houses merely have to stick a fork in you after the main guys did all the cooking.

losing one of the three is a risk the celtics team has taken. which risk is better calculated, losing one of the big three? or losing a superstar like Wade, King or Cobe? I still see them in the ECF, we need to be ready for them. They are used to playing heavy minutes. Our starters are not.

I still see them in the ECF,
You are in good company.
So can Stern, The Networks, ESPN, All of MA and the millions of Celtics fans that have been in hiding the last few years.
I hear even the guy from French Lick has had his maid dust off his old trophies in anticipation.

The Pistons seem to be able to match up with these guys better than anyone. Sheed is the key to that.

Yep. Sheed and KG cancel out each other (has happened before), Tay will take on Pierce, and Rip is close to Allen. The rest is all Pistons advantage.

Totally agreed. Rip has been canceling Allen each time we played against the Sonics. So was Tay on Pierce. Sheed, I'm not so sure cause Big Ben has been doing before but I'm sure Sheed and Dice can slow KG down.
CBill should be able to take advantage of Rondo, no doubt and he better be. Our bench should be able to take their bench anyday, anytime.
ADVANTAGE: PISTONS.

Sounds like this is May and we are discussing the Eastern Conferce finals already?? We must have won the first two rounds. How did Stuckey do? Did CB and get enough rest? How bout Tay..we need him well rested enough to ready to shut down Pierce so we can win game six and seven:MusicBigGrin:

Here is how KG actually did against us vs. how he did in general over the past 4 seasons (the Sheed era).
Category/ 4-year ave/ against us/ difference
Points/ 22.7/ 20.1/ -2.6
Rebs/ 13.2/ 13.4/ +0.2
Asts/ 4.7/ 4.1/ -0.6
Stls/ 1.4/ 1.1/ -0.3
Blcks/ 1.7/ 2.0/ +0.3
So everything is pretty normal, except that his scoring against us is lower than his average. Not only that, but he shot .417 against us vs. .500 for his 4-year average. Also, he got less free throws per game, 5 vs. 6.5.
Sheed (and/or Ben Wallace) makes KG less efficient. However, he still gets his rebounds, blocks, etc.
The bad news?
Here is how Sheed did against KG
Pts/ 13.9/ 10.6/ -3.3
Reb/ 5.8/ 5.8/ 0.0
Ast/ 1.9/ 1.2/ -0.7
Stl/ 1.0/ 0.8/ -0.2
Blk/ 1.7/ 1.0/ -0.7
FG% goes from .431 to .415
FTA go from 2.8 to 1.3
Still, our net loss from this position is probably as low as any team in the NBA. But it is not really fair to say that Sheed is the KG stopper.

Sheed is not KG stopper, but he offsets his numbers very well.

Averaging 20 and 13 against the Pistons is pretty major stuff. Especially since we limit the number of possessions per game vs. all of the West Coast teams he used to play against.
And that was when KG didn't have all-star teammates camped out on the perimeter. Also, a lot of that time, Flip was coaching him. :stirthepot:
The nightmare scenario is Sheed getting in foul trouble early against KG every single game in the ECF because the refs want to see this thing out for the new NBA darlings.

sadly we should have a huge advantage with our coach knowing him so well, not sure if we will get that advantage..... yes i have no faith in our coach..... but who does?

While that may be true it could also be that the defense by C-Bill and Rip on their guards reduced the number of occasions that KG was getting the ball in his sweet spot or from where he could drive successfully or with the clock running down, thereby forcing him into a bad and/or hurried shot thus reducing his shooting percentage against us compared to the average of the other teams.

To me, those stats spell trouble if they continue with KG`s new teamates!!
It tells me, he may score a few less points but play terrific defense. I am sure Allen and Pierce will be more than happy to pick up the slack in the scoring department.

The Celtics haven't played a good defensive team yet. ATL,NJ, i can't think of anyone who was good defensively.
I really dislike the celtics now. I don't know why. I use to love PP, and now he's doing pushups after getting fouled, and generally acting like a moron.
The biggest problem that we will have if we face the Celtics in the PO is the star calls. Their new arena will become like the old Boston Garden . . . the Celtics are already getting "star calls".
Sheed will probably commit suicide by Game 3. Rip will get ejected.
Seriously though, i think we match-up great with them IF Chauncey dominates Rondo.
If Rondo ends up being DG, or a better comparison TJ Ford and kills him with the speed we're screwed.

Good point LPG. I hadn't even thought about the star factor in the next post season. Stern's probably grinning ear-to-ear at the prospect of revitalizing an old NBA name stay for the ECF and maybe the Finals.
