Week 3 Preview:
Warthog's Wackjobs (11-7-0) vs. Mashed Potatoes (7-11-0)
This is a rematch of the Novice League Fantasy Championship, which Tater won by using an army of scrubs vs. Warthog's studs. As much as I would like to say this is going to be an easy win as payback, the fact of the matter is that Darth is strong in a lot of the same categories as I am and his team is much better than that 7-11 start. Look for me to take FG% and Turnovers, Darth to take Assists to Blocks, and the other 5 categories are up in the air.

Motown Prides (9-9-0) vs. Rancho Drebabys (10-7-1)
Motown's team looked to be injury-prone and weak, until his Week 1 trade that brought him some specialists to help round out his team (Okur for 3s, Dalembert for Blocks, Parker for Points and FG%). In the meantime, Dre's team is one of 2 with over 1,000 Points on the season, and has 160 more Points than anyone else. Amazingly, he also leads the league in Assists and is 2nd in Rebounds. They must all pass to each other and get each other's misses. On paper this is a close match - look for Motown to pull the upset and win for the 2nd week in a row.
webz wombatz (13-4-1) vs. Mr.VanSmack (7-10-1)
Wow, webz wombatz win willingly. Webz's knack for dominating the specialty categories leaves opponents befuddled. On the other side, moe is treading water with a couple injuries, and holding onto injury-prone players and guys serving out suspensions. His team can be scary good, but will it be too late? Look for webz to lay the van-smack down and go into Week 4 with no higher than 7 total losses.
Winless Hustlers (11-7-0) vs. Sour Notes (7-10-1)
Winless gets bonus points for having a cool name that makes you think. Low gets bonus points for being himself. But who will get the points and glory that comes with winning this matchup? I've got to go with Sour Notes, despite having Carlos "my contributions cannot be measured by stats but trust me i am awesome" Delfino and Joakim "i dance like a girl and look like one too" Noah. Winless loses points for having the 2 whitest men in the NBA on his roster - Korver and Hinrich. Seriously, go to a tanner or something.
MC Jammer Pants (7-11-0) vs. The Pink Slips (3-15-0)
Stop! Jammer Time! (sorry, had to) Tied for 2nd-to-last vs. last place...how exciting! Who will dwell in the basement? Probably both. Both teams find a way to beat Yahoo's programmers and both go 0-9 for the week. Slippy appears to be above average in most categories, but not good enough to win any of them. Jammer relies on his opponents having bad weeks or slim schedules.
Three-peat #1 (11-7-0) vs. Rapid Ralphies (11-7-0)
Now here's a matchup to get excited about! Both teams are tied for 2nd place. Three-peat has employed a good strategy, stashing Wade and Brand until (if) they come back, and in the meantime winning specialty categories like FG%, FT%, Turnovers, and Steals, while conceding 3s and Assists. Ralphi sports a more balanced attack. Either way, this should stay around the 5-4/6-3 mark, with either team equally capable of pulling out the victory.
Loanshark (10-8-0) vs. Himat's Team (9-9-0)
Both teams are trying to separate themselves from the middle of the pack. Both teams have several inconsistent players who can either light it up or lay goose eggs. In other words, Loanshark and Himat are employing the "Cross Your Fingers" strategy that has been a favorite of Fantasy GMs everywhere. Let's go with a Himat 5-4 victory to put both teams at 14-13 for the year, right back in the middle of the pack.
16 Mile (7-11-0) vs. The Pastor's Year (9-9-0)
Pastor doesn't always set his lineups, but he put on an impressive showing last week, narrowly losing to Warthog. His team even shot the lights out to beat Warthog in FG%, although they came back down to earth Sunday and almost lost it. Motown's players continued to haunt Warthog as Pastor received them in a trade. Again this helped his team, with Smith coming back, Crawford lighting it up from 3, and O'Neal playing well. With rebounds close going into the final day, of course Dice had to have 15 boards. Thanks buddy. 16 Mile had the 3rd-worst record in Novice last year, but it appears he's learned from his mistakes of drafting all of his favorite players who have potential but don't put up stats. Again Dwight Howard and Luke Walton are anchoring his squad, but he'll need more help in the Blocks category as he's 0-2 in that, even with DHo. I predict the team that wins more categories will win this week.
