What the heck is wrong with these idiots (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3147811)? :gun1:

Tinsley's group had arrived at the club in three cars owned by the player -- a Mercedes, a Rolls Royce and a Dodge Charger. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Paul Thompson said a group of people gathered around the Rolls Royce and gave Tinsley a hard time about his cars and his earnings.

After Tinsley and his entourage left, they realized they were being followed by a gray Chrysler and a dark pickup truck, Thompson said.

Instead of going home, Tinsley's group pulled into the Conrad Hotel, a downtown luxury hotel, where the shooting began. Tinsley's Rolls Royce was struck by several bullets, and five bullet holes were found in the Charger, police said.

Thompson said Jamaal Tinsley's vehicles were struck by shots from a .223 assault rifle.

"That's a heck of a weapon to unleash downtown without there being collateral damage," Thompson said.

No one was injured in the Charger.

Two vehicles in Tinsley's group then followed the shooters in a chase and Tinsley's brother, James, fired at the attackers with a 9 millimeter handgun, police said.

Thompson said it was unknown whether anyone was hit at that time, and Jamaal Tinsley was not involved in the chase.

James Tinsley, who has a gun permit, hasn't been charged because the incident is still under investigation, Thompson said.

Police arrested one person in Tinsley's group, Antoine Toon, for an outstanding warrant in Georgia for dealing a controlled substance.

It makes you appreciate our situation here.

Darko I believe got into more trouble when he was with us, than any of our other players since Joe. D. has been in charge.

Mourning had some interesting comments:

Mourning was stern-faced before the game after hearing about Sunday morning's shooting incident involving Indiana Pacers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/ind/;_ylt=AizEp8N0_fM6vEmMuP6IfTmQvLYF) G Jamaal Tinsley (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3528/;_ylt=Auu8N4Wms0bJE4NSLktEvTuQvLYF). "You've got to understand that we all are vulnerable when it comes to putting ourselves in situations where the public has access to us. And if we go out and flaunt and expose our luxuries, there are some jealous people out there who want it and put us in a position where we're targets," Mourning said. "I'm not saying you've got to hide it, but don't be flamboyant. Don't walk into a club with a crowd of people wearing a $250,000 chain around your neck or pull out a wad of hundreds for everybody to see. Pull out a credit card instead. I mean, you're asking for attention and you're asking for trouble."

It seems to me that Mourning has a very valid point there.

I thought so too.

Dumars wouldn't have this kind of player. I think the tinted window scandal helped push Darko out of town.

I don't know that anyone is blaming Tinsley or saying that he did anything wrong. But it seems to me that in a lot of cases, these types of incidents can be avoided with a bit of discretion.

He may want to think about getting a bulletproof car. It's probably worth the extra cost.

once, bad luck.....

twice, ok your stupid.....

three times, your not need on my team because you obviously can't use common sence.

Why are you hanging out with a group of people carrying guns at 3am in the morning, getting into a mess and taking it upon yourselves to chase them down? use some of that money to buy a cell phone and call 911.

Not to mention the wanted drug dealer on the run in one of your cars.

If you go to NBA.com and look at the player bios, there is a Fantasy Player News section that lists news headlines for each player. Tinsley's includes all sorts of articles about trial dates being delayed and shooting incidents. Maybe fantasy leagues ought to include a category for run-ins with the police.

Hanging out in public with strippers helped also.

Keeping it real isn't always the best motto

In the wake of someone allegedly shooting at Jamaal Tinsley (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3528/;_ylt=Ar4Fg5FnvCIT25sdlbS.OgefzIx4) Sunday in Indiana and Sean Taylor’s recent murder – as well as this summer’s home invasions of Antoine Walker (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3112/;_ylt=AhlawgAfNvos.5sOUVqED6GfzIx4) and Eddy Curry (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3514/;_ylt=AoNFEVQSeoXiOnapsykNpjGfzIx4) – it’s understandable to wonder about the danger of being a professional athlete.
Athletes are often criticized for carrying guns, but are these examples why they feel the need to carry?
Could athletes eliminate much of the threat by better picking the company they keep and choosing where (or where not to) go at night? Is it even fair to ask athletes to stay away from clubs?
Is it fair to ask them to leave their friends behind? The same people who cared and believed in them before they became successful?

Unfortunately, yes. Anyone who is successful will tell you firsthand that with success, change has to occur. In my estimation that is why most people aren’t successful. They are afraid of change..........
