Report: McCarty meets with Red Wings (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080109/UPDATE/801090451/&imw=Y)

Darren McCarty has met with Red Wings officials about the possibility of returning to the team, the Windsor Star is reporting, citing an NHL source.
The former Red Wing has been working out after going unsigned as an unrestricted free agent last summer.
McCarty, 35, hooked on with the Flint Generals of the International Hockey League. The Generals said McCarty would be in their lineup for Wednesday night's game at Muskegon.

I wonder what his role on the team would be? And where would that leave Dallas Drake (who Wings decided to bring back after an extended absence)?

I'm just worried this is another soft nonplayoff hockey Wings team like the last 5 year
editions.

We are,...... Just wait til we meet the Ducks in the playoffs again.........or a half dozen other tough teams in the playoffs.

Wings weren't soft last year, unless you are counting the number of bruises they had.

They played the 3 most physical teams in the playoffs, and lost a war of attrition. I doubt that Anaheim would have won the cup if they had to go through Calgary and San Jose first.

This Wings squad may not be "tough guys", but they are tough minded and resilient.

They are tough enough. They'll be fine.

Thanks for the encourgement guys, you better not be blowing positive smoke just to be whistling pass a graveyard. Like I do with the Lions.
Then it's settled, the Cup is ours.
