Man, Screw Dale Davis. I will give Joe a pass on the Juan Dixon thing if he snags this guy.

29 years old and 265 lbs, I concur there Low, but looks like the Mavs are instrested in getting him too.

Absolutely. Might be able to keep the guy, too, instead of renting him for a third of the season.

Heck, he's Canadian, so he can't be too bad! :canada:

(Let's see if Darth Tater actually reads any of the basketball related threads, because if he does, it won't take long for his evil Anti-Canadian response)

Joe should ask him if he wants to risk getting sent home in the 1st round.

Let me guess, his knees are shot.

Davis is a much better defender. A better rebounder too. And he has the sense not to jack up hook shots on offense at Darko-esque percentages like Magloire likes to.

Keep DD.

He shot .504 last year and is .479 for his career.

I wonder how the NJ posters feel about him. We need to send a spy.

NJ posters say Dallas is interested in Magloire.

Here is some other stuff:

Nets waive Jamaal Magloire : New Jersey Nets (http://www.clubnetshoops.com/forums/nets-waive-jamaal-magloire-t954.html)

Not much talk about him so I guess they didn't think much of him.

They never saw him play. He was on pace to be a 15-20 and 10 guy until he struggled with injuries that he never quite came back from.

This guy can play defense, he is actually an above average interior defender. Not because he is a prolific shot blocker, but rather because he is strong with a solid base and he rarely bites on pump fakes.

Hes solid for what Joe needs him for. I would call him and Dale equal to be safe but when I look at the ages of the two (and the possibility that Jamaal could get his act together) I would have to think Jamaal would be a better option.

Oops, I thought this was a fantasy thread...I mean, really, a Cannuckian playing basketball???:pound:

Anyhow, Jammer, everyone knows that just because an Eskimo can sometimes hit the broad side of an igloo when he chucks a snowball doesn't mean the talent will translate to being able to throw a basketball with accuracy.:cold:

We keep adding fossils, we might as well become the La Brea Pistons.

As much as I liked Elden Campbell. We gotta stop with the Campbell, Coleman, Webber, Davis-like signings. We're passing up on guys who could actually contribute to drag these giants sloths along.

he's so young he's the opposite of dead not old lol

he'd be no more then an emergency backup this season, but i think 2009-2010 he might just be something to be had.... time will tell.

You know what, it's bad enough that Joe needs to work voodoo to keep Lindsey animated on the bench...

Now we want Arnie to wrap and unwrap Dale "The Mummy" Davis 3 times a day?

Has anyone seen him lately? Or have we kept him in a sarcophagus in the training room since last year?

We have Maxey, and Amir, if some stuff goes down I'll take Samb before I ask Joe to read from the book of the dead again.

I beg to differ. Dale was impressive last year in very limited minutes. In the Cleveland series I felt like there was at least one game (I think it was the Lebran explosion game) where he was the only big man who knew what he was doing out there. Dale has extremely good court sense and he ages well. He knows he can't rely on athleticism for an edge, so he outfoxes and outboxes out there. AND he has effectively been resting the entire season so far. Sure, there could be some rust to shake off, but I would love to see him taking out the trash as a reliable backup when the younguns are overwhelmed.

Maybe we are forgetting - Dale plays with the "Going To Work" attitude that we supposedly know and love - and miss. So just be sure you don't miss those days anymore before you go knocking Tazer. That reminds me - how can we not pick up this guy, just for the Tazer history! :pound:

Now you want Joe to get Olowokandi (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004/basketball/nba/11/25/olowokandi.arrested/index.html?cnn=yes)?

Goa'uld sarcophagus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarcophagus_%28Stargate%29#Sarcophagus)?

How cool would it be for DD to replace Dice in the starting lineup, and during home introductions, the sarcophagus ring transports to center court, then orients itself perpendicular to the floor, and DD steps out, to Michael Jackson's "Thriller"?

Got a good chuckle from the last few posts in here.

But its not going to be so funny if something happends to one of our 4 bigs and we have to throw Walter Herman into the mix trying to guard Garnett or whatever. So yes if DD can still move then sign him. Or bring up that Samb kid.

Have you considered a career in marketing? That sarcophagus idea would be too cool.

I made a minor addition.

Last I heard the Pistons are trying to get the no wheel chair rule lifted so DD can get up and down the floor in a timely and injury free fashion.

Ok, but sticking to the Stargate meme, we wouldn't use a Taser, but a Goa'uld handweapon, referred to by humans as a "Zat Gun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zat)".

One shot stuns, second shot kills, 3rd shot disintegrates.

We gotta be sure to only shoot DD once.

haven't considered it. I've watched a lot of sci-fi, any self-respecting nerd should be able to come up with stuff like this. :)

:focus:

per NBA ESPN Analyst Chris Broussard on First Take this morning, the Nets gave Magloire all the opportunity to beat out Jason Collins for the center job and Magliore couldn't do that. You who know Collins is right? He is half of the highest paid twins in NBA sports history who just get paid for being a big body on the their teams. Both brothers have career averages of about 4 ppg and 4 rpg.

Broussard also indicated that Magliore is in shape, but his basketball skill levels have deterioated and he will give the Mavs probably just one good game the rest of the season.

I hope it isn't Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Pistons.
