If the season eneded today who would be your MVP?

Kobe and LeBron have been great this year however, my vote would go to Chris Paul.

The Hornet PG is playing out of his mind right now, if he continues to play at his current level and NO stumbles upon the #1 seed, it would be an injustice to deny him the award!

Kobe has never won the award. People think he has been robbed a few times. If Kobe wins this year, then Chris Paul will be the one who is robbed. If T-mac makes it to 30 in a row, then just gift wrap it and give it to him.

Why's that?

2-7, the Hornets' players are probably better than the Lakers', overall. And Paul is a defensive liability, whereas Bryant is a DPOY candidate.

YOU make good points. The tiebreaker for me is that I just don't like kobe...

Yes; for me, I dislike midget guards like Paul (and Zeke for that matter) and think Bryant's a lot more aesthetically pleasing than James.

Your avatar is pretty good.

So we're picking the MVP based upon height and looks?

I'm a shoo-in then. :sssh:

I hear you, but the winner of the award isn`t based on being athletic.

Well, there's the moves and a proportionality of parts to take into consideration as well, pretty boy.

Forget Kobe. C Paul is the star a Cinderrella ride.
T/Mac needs to win a P/O series first. He's been around too long and lost too much to be taken seriously. Can he win 32 in a row ? :scared:

Kobe deserves at least one before the end of his career. If the general consesus is that he is the best player in the league for the past few seasons he should have one.

LeBron and Paul will have dozens more opportunities to win one over the next decade.

Won't try, doesn't matter.

There isn't a male professional sports league in human history that isn't filled to the brim with rapists.

So long as it happens off the court, it doesn't effect the opinions of anyone voting for the MVP in the least. Only slighting journalists has that effect.

Really??

Where did you get that stat?

Sorry D59 it's not going away.
And he's a Laker. I refuse to like anything Laker.
Sep those cheer leaders.
Well it's not much of a poll but the Kobes are winning.

My only dissapointing thread to this point in the forum is this one where everybody votes for the guy I enjoy disliking. His overwhelming majority saddens me. He is a hot dog without the bun.

I think that the on court/ off court +/- is actually pretty good for this discussion. The reason is that it also takes into account how bad the team is without the player in question. To me, that is what the MVP vote should be all about-- which team would suffer the most if you took player X away.

#1- Steve Nash, +19.0
#2- Antwan Jamison, 18.6
#3- Dirk Nowitski, 16.5
#4- Lebron James, 16.0
#5- Brad Miller, 13.1
#6- Dwight Howard, 13.0
#7- Kobe Bryant, 12.6
#8- Chris Bosh, 11.7
#9- Chris Paul, 11.5
#10- Kevin Garnett, 10.9

Now keep in mind that this doesn't rank how good each player is relative to the others on the list. But it ranks how much each team DEPENDS on that player. So, the Kings would suffer slightly more if Brad Miller went down with an injury than the Orlando Magic would suffer if Dwight Howard hit his head on the rim and was out for a period of time.

Based on this analysis, Nash wins again.

If the award was Leagues Best Player, then I'd consider Kobe, KG, Lebron, and Chris Paul.

Not so sure about that. +/- is exactly right for what it is, but I'm not sure it means that taking the player out for games rather than stints means the same thing.

Of course, also not sure if the share of team Sprocket Points I make is any better at estimating what player's absence hurts their team the most. There are 12 guys who account for more than 20% of their team's total Sprocket Points.

From winning teams...
Howard - 27%
LBJ - 23%
Paul - 23%
Camby - 23%
Duncan - 21%
Jamison - 21%
Stoudemire - 21%

From losing teams...
Al Jefferson - 26%
Josh Smith - 22%
Chris Kaman - 22%
Shawn Marion - 21% (also includes games with PHX)
Rudy Gay - 21%

So, put the rankings together and Antawn Jamison ought to be MVP.

Sorry guys my eyes played tricks on me last nite.
Anyway AHB, I'm sure I get what you mean, but I hope there isn't any rapes on court. On in the facility. That would be a blight on the Major Leagues. These guys just can't get away with everything. MSG.

I heard or read a crazy stat about Chris Paul the other night. I can't remember exactly what it was but he is involved in like 50% (could be more) of the Hornets points, either by scoring or assists. I'll try and find a link.

If Chris Paul doesn`t win the MVP it`s a travesty. At least his coach will win Coach of the Year.

Paul deserves it. No one player has made as big an impact on the fortunes of their team (as well as their city) as he has this season.

I caught CPaul on Jimmie Kimmel last night and it showed up on youtube today.

I'm really trying not to let my opinion of the first sentence be affected by my opinion of the second.
