The New York Post, citing a league source, is reporting that Scott Skiles has verbally accepted the Milwaukee Bucks' offer to become the team's next head coach.
Skiles will fill the opening left by Larry Krystkowiak. Krystkowiak was fired by Milwaukee's new General Manager, John Hammond, last Thursday. The Bucks finished with a 26-56 record last season.
Skiles' defensive focus, a match with Hammond's last team (the Detroit Pistons) seems to be a key factor in the hiring.

Sucks for Charlie V, who has a disease that has left him hairless, without even eyebrows to deflect the sweat. Let's see Skiles stick to his guns.
Skiles will gun Villanueva right out of town if he has any chance. And with Hammond there, I think he'll get that chance - any Detroit exec would look unfavorably on his disinterest in defense and all-around lazy...
Wait, what am I saying?

I find it interesting that the NBA rarely gets any new blood in the coaching ranks. It seems like the same coaches are recycled again and again despite failing at their old jobs. It's really kind of annoying.
Never would have thought Carlisle was a good fit in Dallas. Maybe Cuban wants someone with absolutely no personality so that his personality can reign supreme. D'Antoni would be OK in Chi-town, but not NY. I just don't see New Yorkers really taking to him.

Reports out of Dallas suggest that Michael Curry will be leaving the Detroit Pistons as Assistant Coach to take on a starting Small Forward position with the Dallas Mavericks.
Wow....who saw that comin?

It happens that way in every major sport. Like with the Super Bowl, where both Belichick and Coughlin had been axed from their previous head coaching jobs.

Owners are clearly going for the "experience" angle. I'd be looking to hire a "winner." Past experience should indicate that, too. That's why I wouldn't hire Cola. Cola has won some games, but when the chips are down, do you really want Cola making the moves? Not me.
The Carlisle hiring hits the 3Pointer with me. I think its going to work out for them.

Reports: D'Antoni accepts offer to coach Knicks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3389987)
More bad news for Chicago.
He had 2 years at 9 mil left on his contract with the Suns. He's getting 6 million per season for 4 seasons with the Knicks.
Let's see........from 4.5 million yearly with Phoenix to 6.0 Million yearly at NY.
Chicago, I would think, coulda had him for less since their situation is much better than that of the Knicks....
The owner of the Bulls is dumb...:gun1:

Where are those "winners" I mean, NBA coaches earn, you see, 3-4 million per year or so. It is much much more than in anywere else. Eg. Euroleague winner Moskau CSKA pays to his coach 2mil and he is the highest paid there.
A conclusion: There is not enough good coaches for NBA. You may demand here whatever you want.

I thought Walsh was smart? Knicks are hamstrung with all those big ticket doofus' and they pay through the nose for a coach that won't make a difference?? Better off getting a guy from the DLeague for 2 years.

D`Antoni`s style is not suitable for the current Knicks roster, is it?
Furthermore, this is the EC!

Bup-Bup made it a practice to own Nash and D'Antoni. But since he knows Starbury maybe he can get him to earn his $20M salary.

Since his style is different, the Knicks will have to force terrible trades in a desperate attempt to get him players that can score, but can't play any defense... actually, now that I put it that way, maybe their roster is suitable.

D'Ant to players: Forget everything Zeke taught you.

Terry Porter is interviewing with the Suns says ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3398493).
The Phoenix Suns have begun their coaching search in earnest by interviewing Detroit Pistons assistant coach Terry Porter.
Suns president Steve Kerr told ESPN.com that he flew in and out of Detroit on Thursday to meet with Porter, his former teammate for two seasons in San Antonio.
Porter, who posted a 71-92 record in a two-season stint as Milwaukee's head coach from 2003-05, is believed to the first to formally meet with the Suns.
Hmm...maybe they would like to talk to our head coach instead?

Great one. Flip might be the better fit. Then again, I'd want him to take Porter with him. Cowens should be the new figurehead with Lindsey and Michael Curry calling the shots. :stirthepot:

I heard when Terry Porter boarded the plane, he was overheard saying "This Homey ain't coming back to Detroit."
If I recall, he was right about that when he was with Portland, but it didn't work out quite the way he thought it would !

''The conference finals is what we want,'' Dumars said. ''We want more, but we recognize and appreciate how tough it is to reach the conference finals six years in a row."
''We do not take it lightly.''
In this quote from Joe Dumars, it sounds like he's happy with his current coach. :stirthepot:

That is the most depressing possibility I have read on this forum in a while. And I think you are right. Flip is teflon apparently. He will be our head coach forever. God.
