What a jerk. He quits when they suck, but fires a guy and takes over for him when they are good. Butt head!

It warms my heart to see SVG in the second round and Pat Riley slinking off to the shadows...

The Heat promoted one of their assistants, Erik Spoelstra, who's now the youngest head coach in the league (37). As long as Riley is hovering around there, they'll never be able to hire any established head coaches. Nobody wants to be in a position of knowing that if they do a good job and actually win, they'll get rewarded with a pink slip from the glory-hogging egomaniac in the front office who'll find some new excuse for pushing them out of the way.

What a minute..SVG just needed to get some family time. It was just a coincidence that he needed family time just when the Heat were getting good and Riley wanted to take over. I specifically recall SVG mentioning family time.

And coincidentally, SVG suddenly threw his family under the bus when the Orlando job opened up...

For some reason, this thread reminds me of the Southpark episode where there are 2 candidates running for president, Giant Douche and Turd Sandwich. Except, in this instance, they are both Pat Riley.

“There’s no question [the Pistons are] the standard bearer,” Van Gundy said. “Sustained excellence over time is more of an accomplishment than a team that can put it together for one great year.Oh, %%%%, fat man.

His father / grandfather? Watson Spoelstra, was a sports writer for the Detroit News back in the 60s. He was the president of the BBWAA.
