I was just checking out my other leagues on Yahoo and guess what time it is....

OK, you're on the clock ... 0:59 ... 0:58 ... 0:57 ... - Roto Arcade - Fantasy - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blog/roto_arcade/post/OK-you-re-on-the-clock-0-59-0-58-0-;_ylt=ArliyTUvA71RfMPbO1ANd7VNC5kB?urn=fantasy,871 43)

Looks like they've made some improvements for this year.

Some of these tools, like percent-owned and started information, are strategically useful; other tools, like our smack-talk enhancements, are designed to escalate hostilities in your league to the brink of violent conflict.

The draft room experience has also been improved. One of the bullets underneath "New Live Draft App" on the game's propaganda page says, "Don't miss a turn with our new audio alerts."

I guess thats what it takes to win one of these leagues. I'll be back to defend my title, with Brady or not.

Darth, I believe your signature may be offensive to both Jammer and Roscoe. You see, Eskimo usually only refers to the indigenous people of Alaska or Siberia, whereas those from arctic Canada and Greenland should be referred to as Inuits.
And Roscoe should just be referred to as Camericanian.

Oh, and yeah, does anyone want to play fantasy CFL? The season starts soon.

I've got an early suggestion for the league this season. Will we be scoring points for return punts/kicks again? Personally I feel this stat should be removed because it makes guys who would normally have no value become borderline starters. I'll throw some stats your way to make my point.

Nate Burleson finished 10th among WR with only 694 receiving yards and 9 TD's. His 1200+ return yards gave him more points than guys who had over 1000 yards and 12 TD's. Higher than guys like Plax Burress, Greg Jennings and Torry Holt. That's not really right.

Devin Hester finished 21st among WR despite only 299 receiving yards and 2 TD's.

Leon Washington finished 20th among RB with only 353 rushing yards and 3 TD's.
Jerious Norwood scored only 1 TD but finished ahead of guys with over 1000 yards or 6 TD's because of his 1300+ return yards.

And finally, Josh Cribbs, purely a PR/KR finished 36th (which is easily draftable) among WR with only a paltry 37 receiving yards and 0 TD's!! He scored more fantasy points than Lee Evans, Roy Williams, Calvin Johnson, Reggie Brown, Laveranues Coles, etc. His 2214 return yards and 3 return TD's made that possible. Again, I don't believe rewarding these types of players is very common in most leagues and I would like to put forward a motion to remove this stat from the upcoming season. It may only be a small thing but I believe it would be beneficial.

Any other thoughts? Agree/Disagree?

That was actually exactly why I added it, to make the pool of draft worthy WRs a bit larger.

I do agree with you though, that their value shouldn't exceed that of legit WRs. The value of KR/PR yards can be adjusted, as can the value/weight of any other stat. Maybe that's something that whoever volunteers (I nominate Tater) to be commish can look at.

To be honest, I think WR is one of the deepest positions. And yes, I can see how it mixes things up a bit, but I don't see who is going to draft someone like Josh Cribbs purely based on his PR/KR abilities (let alone start him for that matter).
But that's not the main problem cos I don't think anyone would start a PR/KR. I'm thinking more that I guess I just don't like the idea of guys lucking out on drafts by picking a borderline draftable WR4/5 in Round 14 (think Nate Burleson last year) and then getting lucky when he becomes the teams KR and having him become a better fantasy producer than someone who picked a proper WR2/3 in the 4th round of the draft.

Ya feel me?

I'd also be happy with a de-valued option, but if everyone wants to keep it in there, I'll deal with it. No problem. :)

I'd be up for this if everyone else wanted it, but I'd make it a proper PPR league. No point doing it half-heartedly. ie. 1 point per catch.

That was a gutsy move going for Romo at #2. I was thinking of pulling the trigger at #8, but wasn't sure if I should. You made my decision to go for Barber easy. Passing on Peterson...it will be very interesting to see how that one turns out for you. Maybe very wise. Or not. Gutsy though...

I'd rather take a starting RB in the 6th-8th round than pick up a WR who is only 2nd or 3rd on their depth chart. I was suprised to get Kevin Smith, I thought he'd be gone early.

Yahoo's rankings don't have Romo at 2, so you must have pre-set your draft queue like that, irregardless if it was auto-picked. Might have been early, but you still can't go wrong having a top 3 QB.

Yahoo had him rated fairly low for receivers so I was hoping that out of site meant out of mind for people. It happens in every draft where someone gets picked and people say "He was still available?", "I didn't know he was still on the board", etc. I took a chance that I'd be able to grab a great player with a late(ish) pick.

Football is the most popular fantasy sport, I believe, but it's my least favorite.

It's all or nothing every week.

Injuries just kill you. You can go from great to terrible in a week...even if you have backups.

I think this is my 5th football league, and I'm pretty sure the Tomlinson owner won every time. I'm positive it was at least 3 of 4, at any rate.

You can have a great week and still lose and walk away with nothing. I remember last year I scored 140 freakin' points and the guy I played (Bill, maybe...can't remember) scored 130 + and lost! Just not fair when some teams probably won with less than half that many.

I don't know if there has ever been a trade in any football league I've been in. I know there were none in the leagues outside of here that I've been in. Maybe we had one in this league last year.

You only play once a week. Borrring for fantasy addicts like yours truly.

It's exciting and fun to keep track of when you're winning but I almost didn't join for the above reasons. But you know...can't miss out on the fun.

I don't necessarily agree on the injuries thing. I would argue Basketball is worse for injuries these days. It's ridiculous. There were plenty of waiver wire guys you could have scooped up to fill in last year and became top 10 players. ie. Ryan Grant, Earnest Graham, David Garrard, Kurt Warner... You just have to be quick on that wire!

I think this is my 5th football league, and I'm pretty sure the Tomlinson owner won every time. I'm positive it was at least 3 of 4, at any rate.

I can definitely relate to this point and I agree. I hate it, but that's part of it. But that's also what Roto leagues are for. Maybe we could play both next season using the same teams. Kind of like an alternate universe.
But it's the same in any Fantasy sport. The best team all season doesn't always win the 'Ship.

I don't know if there has ever been a trade in any football league I've been in. I know there were none in the leagues outside of here that I've been in. Maybe we had one in this league last year.

Yeah, I kind of wish the games during the week were spread out a bit more. My current problem is I'm too happy with my draft. There is nobody I want to drop to pick up those fun waiver guys who explode in the early weeks. For instance, I have 5 RB's, all of whom recorded 14+ fantasy points in Week 1. Oh, I was OK with 8. Especially since Barber dropped to me.

Last year I picked tenth and got a bye in the playoffs. That probably had something to do with me getting Adrian Peterson relatively late. So yeah, if you can pick up a gem, that helps a lot.

Green Bays Dee scored about 20 pt. on Det. SD scored -1 .

23. I'll take it.

My kicker sucked and your Hanson got 14.

I've got a nice lead but 34 may not be enough. I'm hoping Romo decided to handoff to my running back Barber. If he decides to replace his girlfriend Witten with Crayton, I'm gonna be in some deep do do.

I'll be watching...

Possibly the most even trade ever.

TE Anthony Fasano (Bill)
for
WR Bernard Berrian (webz)

I needed a fill-in at TE with Dallas Clark injured, and Bill needed some WR help after losing Nate Burleson.

After the trade was completed we plugged both guys into our starting lineups for Week 2 and both guys came up with...

a big, fat ZERO! :gun1: :football:

If that's not a fair trade I don't know what is...

LOL....I think we both got screwed with that trade.

...and Darth said he's never been in a football league in which there was a trade.

I'm starting to think this isn't going to be my year...

Last week I played against Turner and Barber who scored 4 TD's and 261 yards between them - this week they combined for ZERO and 92.

Now this week Brett Favre, a dinosaur who has played for 20 years goes for a career high 6 TD's!!! WTF is up with that?

My team is better than 1-3, I just wanna know when it's going to be my turn to have some luck. :shout:

Nooooooooooo.:nono: Never Never Never allow one or both sides to change their mind.

The waiting period is for the rest of the league to veto or voice complaints. Once you enter into an agreement it's binding. :phone:

I don't remember having to do anything for trades. That might have had something to do with the way it was setup. I don't know. I've only been a commissioner once, so I'm not really sure.

I agree with that. I'm also not a big fan of vetoing trades either. Unless it was CLEARLY foul play, even if the trade appears lopsided, if it is done in good faith, I feel that it should always stand.

Right. When you set up the league, you chopose between Commish approval or league approval. I always put it on the league.

Like Jammer, I don't ever like vetoes based on stupidity of managers. If it's good faith it stands. Collusion is another matter entirely...

There isn't much to "process" a trade. The Commissioner just clicks a button that says "Approve Trade".

As the baseball Commissioner this past summer, I only waited a single day for trades. If no one objected, I just clicked the "Approve Trade" button. I don't see the need to prolong trades if it is obvious there is no corruption going on.

Ah yes, I think I remember selecting that now. As you said, I don't really like the idea of vetoing trades either which must be why I set it to Commish. But I didn't realise that would mean I'd have to APPROVE every one.

I mistakingly thought people could cancel a trade once it was accepted, but I was thinking of being able to cancel proposals.

Thanks for helping me clear this up.

Going forward I will still allow 2 days from when the trade is accepted by both sides to processing it, which will allow any unhappy managers to express any concerns.

Talk to Darth about Michael Turner last week. I've also had Parker and Jones on the bench when they scored 3 TD's each. It hurts.

I had 3 great RB plays this week but I could only choose 2. Where is that flex option? Maybe next year.

Peterson v Bears (7 TD's in 3 career games against them)
Thomas Jones v Broncos
Chris Johnson v Lions

I almost benched AP for Johnson. Hope it was the right call cos Johnson had 130 yards and 2 scores.
