Lions got some home cookin' going on so far. Now they go on the road.
Brownies up this Sat. My buddy S. Rodgers will be waiting and hating!
Brownies got messed up in their last game, their starting QB got roughed up...B. Edwards got a deep cut in his foot but may be ready.
...Lions so far have played decent Dee. Given up 20 pionts in 2 games. White the DE is a monster again. Cal J. WR, awesome so far cause Kitna has a perfect rating...
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME LION FOOTBALL ?
The joy will only last so long. Get it while it's happy. :)

They were on the road against the Bengals this past week and looked pretty good.
I know it's the pre-season, but I've liked what I've seen so far.
They look faster and hungrier.

So...now that you guys have seen Stanton play, whadaya think?
To me, he should be moved ahead of Orlovsky on the depth chart.

To me, he should be moved ahead of Orlovsky on the depth chart.
I don't watch college football so I had never seen him play before this year's pre-season, but I've been impressed with him so far.
I like Orlovsky out of the pocket. He has a very strong arm (although his throws have been a bit on the high side). But his bootlegs have been horrible.
Stanton has impressed me with his escapability. That scramble on 3rd and long for the first down was nice. He turned a punt into a first down. His bootlegs have been good and his accuracy has been decent. That 50 yard play action pass was solid as well.

Dett, was it you that said Stanton had the leadership moxy 2 years ago?
He makes us deep at QB. But he's no good to us if he can't stay healthy.
I hope his feets don't fail him.

Looks like 5 starters from the Brown's won't play. Should make it easier.

Looks like you jinxed him Thee...Lions to sign Henson
The Lions today were close to adding ex-Michigan quarterback Drew Henson to their roster as a replacement for the injured Drew Stanton.
Henson, who has not played in the NFL since the Minnesota Vikingshttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/adTypes/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080822/SPORTS0101/808220428#) cut him during their 2007 training camp, worked out Friday at the Lions headquarters in Allen Park. Henson is expected to be the team's third quarterback behind Jon Kitna and back-up Dan Orlovsky following Stanton's loss to a thumb injury.
Stanton sprained the thumb on his throwing hand when he crashed his hand into an offensive lineman late during Thursday's practice.

Drew is injury prone, and that's just too bad.

Don't worry about Stanton's thumb. Just a shame it happened when he was finally getting a chance to shine. Now he's done for preseason and will be on the bench for the year.
Henson is just a camp arm to fill out the roster and help in practice.

Man, do I LOVE this defense!
Agreed. They look FAST! They're actually making tackles and are just absolutely swarming to the football. First, second and even third stringers.
The O-line still needs some work. Hopefully some time in the new zone blocking scheme will help.
Haven't seen any action yet out here in Montana, but it sounds like I need to get some Kool-aid ready..........

Stantons only going to miss about 7 weeks. it's in a cast.
Have you noticed our receivers are getting way open? The QBs are ripping off 20 yd chunks a pass. That's why our QB ratings are near perfect.
Remember how nice our dee was before White got hurt last year?

I wonder how well they'll rush the ball when it really counts.

We haven't really been rushing it very well when it doesn't count, so I don't hold out much hope.

We get Buff next. They put a whupdown on the Colts today. Dick Juron makes very physical teams. Losman is coming around.

What I've noticed is there are a lot of teams without serious QB depth. And they got nothing in the second half.

It's gotta be a curse.
Actually, it's the end of a curse.

Are you sure his curse doesn't run until 2010?
But then one curse could cancel the other.
Joey Harrington was cut by the Falcons as they get down to their 53 man roster. Left on the team were starter Matt Ryan, second stringer Chris Redmond, and D. J. Shockley as the team's #3 quarterback.
I personally didn't know what to think of this draft choice when the Lions made it. He seemed to be able to bring his team back in the 4th quarter in college, but he was a system QB who just didn't seem to be "tough". It's obvious now that Joey simply didn't have what it takes to make it in the NFL. He reminds me of Drew Henson, in the fact that I thought he had much more NFL potential than we've seen.
I hope the NFL enacts a rule limiting rookie salaries cause teams are getting burned by these QBs out of college who turn out to be duds.

Let's not start over about Joel again. We coddled him from the moment he got here. Then when it can time for him to win the Super Bowl, all he could do is coddle himself.
In 6 years I don't ever think he was injured. Some one will pick him up. New England, Indy.

Harrington couldn't make it in the CFL. It's a different game. Guys like Flutie and Garcia were MVPs in that league. You have to have a strong arm, good legs and a lot of toughness because you will get beat up.
