You missed him on the court today in L.A. Staples making all the moves. He should be good to go by the end of February. Maxiell will be replaced by AJ as the first big off the bench probably by the playoffs or next year at the latest. Brand would give us a legitimate 3rd big time scorer which would open up the court for Rip and C-Bill. Sheed could then focus on defense and doing all the other little things. Brand is only 28.
As much as I'd like that trade, the salaries don't match. Also, Brand has an ETO coming up this off-season so we would have to address that. Hes getting paid about 15 mill this season. He'd probably take an initial cut for a longer term deal, but we'd still have to shell out some bucks. We work all that out, and I'm on board. He'll transition into our reliable low post presence, he teaches Amir a little something, Sheed focuses on defense while still being dangerous, maybe Cheikh moves into the big leagues, and maybe we draft some bigs.
How about we sign Childress next off season. Finally get a real replacement for Tay, but a guy who does everything. A true Pistons DNA guy. Of course he will cost more than the MLE, but if we drop all the expiring contracts we may have enough, barring Maxiels extension being ridiculous.
Childress doesn't have the range, but he more than makes up for it with all his activity in the paint, including his dunks. My only question is, does it make sense to have both him and Tay on the team? Seems like either guy is too good to come off the bench.
I know what you mean, but the added competition for minutes would be great for Tay, both as a motivator and to give him more rest. Childress is the 6th man right now and has played 4 positions this year. I think he thrives in the "super sub" role, though like all young players probably wants to start.
I agree 3 is criticall, can't see any relief for Prince with Hayes as a replacement, especially in playoff ...but Herrmann hasn't got his chance really - what about his Pistons DNA?
To bad it is not even close to a passable trade as far as money is concerned. your 23.3 mill off In order for it to work you have to trade dyess murry jmax primo and herrm Trade ID #4455593 realgm
That was almost the same argument we all had in 2003...do we need Melo and Prince on the same team??? Well we all know now that it probably would have worked, because we would that one consitent body off the bench since then.... I like Childress too and he can play 3-4 positions as noted including getting into the all important paint. Plus we could use someone else on the team with a weird shot..
That would have worked because we would have been paying Melo a rookie contract and he wouldn't have played more than 5-10 minutes per game.
Has Anthony ever learned how to guard someone? Actually he has gotten better, but he is still not nearly good enough on defense to play for a Dumars team.
Primoz + Flip M + Fabio = Mike Miller for backup SF, and bring Samb up from the D-League, since all he's accomplishing down there is improving his cardio running up and down the court with a bunch of garbage guards.
Right now the Bucks have the 9th pick. I wonder if there is anything we can offer that would move us up, without hurting us this year? Rumors - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
I would trade Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince, Amir Johnson,Primoz Brezech +draft pics for Al Jefferson. Chauncy Billups/Rodney Stucky 1 Flip Murray(natural position)/Aaron Afflalo 2 Walter Herman/Jarvis Hayes 3 Rasheed Wallace/Jason Maxiell 4 Al Jefferson/Antonio McDyess 5 Respectfully Submitted, Marcus De Sade
If we traded 1st rounders in that trade as well with MN that would be mighty interesting... Big Al seems legit, although I don't know about his defense. He's put up 40/20 a few times this year though. Holy cow.
