Re: Fantasy Football i don't know as much about football than basketball, but I might take a shot at it.
Re: Fantasy Football I just wanted to get on this one to start me out for the season. Just a warm up for me, ranking and drafting, get a feel for it before I get in some money leagues.
Re: Fantasy Football I strongly suggest you draft 2 solid running backs in your first 3 picks (if not first 2 picks). Draft with HEALTH in mind. It's everything. Draft your kickers and defense late. (Like after the 8th round, at least). Be careful with guys like Hanson. He's great, but over the years, due to the Lions crappiness, he doesn't get as many points as some average kickers. Qb's are hard to gauge (but don't waste a top pick on one unless it's P. Manning) Wide receivers can really help, but usually pick a RB in the first round. Tight ends (depends on your league settings), but if you have a league where they don't have a specific slot for them, and you can use them as Wr's, there are only a handful worth drafting. Good luck.
Re: Fantasy Football I'm in. Finished 8th last year, and am looking to improve. I hope I can make the draft. I hate letting the computer do it for me.
Re: Fantasy Football Thanks for some of the advice Tater. Shaun Alexander is my favorite player so I have him first.
Re: Fantasy Football Most mock drafts have Alexander, LT or LJ going number one overall. Tater is right, RBs first (or Manning). But I think some WRs might go in the first round as well. Chad Johnson most likely being the top wideout taken. Currently 5 spots left on a 10 team league. I'd like to have the commish change it to a 12 team league if we can get enough serious players though.
Re: Fantasy Football My only advice is to be careful of a 12 team league because sometimes it dilutes the talent too much. I'd play but Fantasy is so addicting and between PF and our basketball fantasy league, I don't think I could do it.
Re: Fantasy Football I dont think fantasy football takes as much time compared to fantasy basketball, you just have to adjust your roster once a week. Yeah you're right about the 12 team league Roscoe, I was thinking that was the more common but it is 10.
I don't do as well as bball fantasy, but I'm workin on it. IMO its alot harder and more complicated even though its only one game a week.
Yeah, I'm in a baseball league like that. I don't even follow baseball and now I have live stats constantly open in my browser. . Thanks though. Feel free to use this forum to manage and discuss your league.
There are a lot more players to watch and a lot more positions as well. I know which b-ball players I should always put in, but in football one guy can do really good one week, but not the next.
My take: Last year was my first year of Fantasy anything. Football was fun and pretty easy. Cruise the stats once a week and try to find forgotten gems witout the hype all over them yet. B-Ball was not much fun at all. I won like 2 weeks, and that was it. There are a lot of stats to keep track of. And I only know basically the big names, because I'm such a homer. And you have to do the line-up for each day. Basketball was way frustrating. Hockey was a lot like basketball, but I know a lot more players from other teams, and in hockey players can really get streaky. So, you see that somebody scored 3 goals in his last 5 games, pick him up, give it a try. Chances are he'll throw up a few more goals before he cools off. My team went on a hot streak at the end of the season and moved up 4 spots in the last 2 weeks, and I made the consolation bracket of the playoffs. My official stats: Basketball 11 of 12 Football 8 of 10 Hockey 8 of 12 Yeah, I'm like the Atlanta Hawks of the Fantasy Sports World. But I never stop doing my line-ups, and I don't quit. (This %%%%%hole from my Hockey league must have forgot that he had a team, and rode a hot goalie into the playoffs, without ever tweaking his line-ups. That's who I eventually lost to in the 3rd round of the playoffs consolation round)
You just had a bad draft probably in fantasy b-ball. I hate it when I forget to set up my lineups so I set them up for the whole week. Will you go for it again when the 07 season starts?
Really, all you need to do is adjust your lineup once a week. You should try to be there for the draft as well or at least pre-rank your players.
