CP3 is great. He can be the best PG all time if he continues to do this. No way Kidd is better than him even in his younger days.
I'd also like to get on the CP3 bandwagon. That dribble in a circle followed by the no-look alley oop to Chandler sealed it for me.
Things are looking very rough for Dallas. We're within our rights as Pistons fans to be disappointed with the fact that our team hasn't done more with the opportunities in front of them (probably should have made two more finals trips and won at least one more title), but man, it's hard out there for a Mavs fan. Going back to at least 2003, they were a good-but-not-great team for several years that looked it might not be able to get over the hump, and then when they finally broke through to the finals, they choked it away in horribly dispiriting fashion. They followed that up with one of the most embarrassing first-round upset losses in league history, and then they mortgaged a lot of their future for a rapidly aging PG, only to see him getting dominated now by a brilliant young star at the same position. Barring what would be an extremely surprising turnaround in this series, Cuban is going to be under considerable pressure to blow everything up. And let's remember that all this has happened without their being able to win a title.
I had this one going seven, but now I got New Orleans winning it in five. Kidd trade was too late...they needed him back last year.
Is Avery Johnson still a good coach? The Mavs are getting embarrassed and this will be the 2nd consecutive year they would exit the playoffs in NO prevails. Just posing this question as he seemed to be considered an upper tier coach by quite a few folks.
Sure he's still a good coach. After all, his team wasn't favored, so what can he do? If you aren't the favored team, then there is no shame in getting knocked out in the first round for up to 7 years.
I don't think he's the coach we all thought he was 2 years ago, or even last year. he took a ready made team and was able to push buttons but they have been going down hill ever sence... blew a 2-0 lead in the finals to get swept, got swept as the number one seed last year, think we'd let our coach get away with that? what has he done better the flip so far?
Lots of Dallas sites similar to this Pistons one have been pointing out Avery's flaws for this whole season. I think if he can't win he's gone. And if he does win there's a good chance he'll be gone too.
You think we have had problems around here the last two playoff seasons with Flip at the helm, just imagine what's been going on in Dallas.....They lose in the finals after being up 2 to the Heat and the Refs..., then they get knocked out in the first riund the next season as the # 1 seed, now they would have fallen rock bottom if they get swept or taken down in 5. ...and you thought the Pistons were in trouble
I thought it was weird when I heard a report that Avery had cancelled the Mavs' practice on Monday, the day before they were facing elimination. Apparently some of the players ended up practicing on their own. And now this report sheds some light on how more stupidity from Josh Howard was behind it, although I'm not sure Avery's response was the right way to handle it.
