Anyone feel like making predictions for the World Championships? The first elimination games are this weekend. No more group play, now it's really win or go home, not like the endless 4 out of 7 series in the NBA, but like the Sweet 16 in NCAA. Should be some urgency and intensity in these games. Maybe a few upsets. Roscoe customized a bracket for us to use in making our predictions. Just click on the link, pick the outcome of each of the first eight games and keep going from there until we have your choice for World Champion. http://www.pistonsforum.com/images/picdump/fiba_world_cham_brac.gif If you want another bracket, this one isn't as pretty with the flags, but it may be easier to use to make your picks. http://www.pistonsforum.com/images/picdump/wbc_082506.png Okay here's mine. Alot of my picks are just who I like and want to see play more games. 1/4 Finals Argentina Slovenia Serbia & Montenegro Italy Greece Angola USA Germany 1/2 Finals Argentina Serbia-Montenegro Angola USA FINALS Argentina USA 2006 WORLD CHAMPION Argentina I can't stand Ginobili with all that dramatic flopping around trying to draw fouls. But I really like the passing game of Argentina and everyone else on that team. And I have kind of a basketball crush on Nocioni. So I'm going for Argentina to win this year, because I like their team game more than the USA game.
I know almost nothing about this and my picks should confirm that. Quarter finals: Argentina Turkey Serbia-mont. Italy Greece France USA GermanyTurkey Serbia-mont. Semi finals Turkey Serbia-mont Greece USA Finals Serbia-mont USA Champion USA
This is the way I would LIKE to see things go. I am not so naive as to think they will actually go this way: 1st Round: Argentina over NZ Turkey over Slovania S/M over Spain Italy over Lithuania China over Greece France over Angolia USA over Australia Germany over Nigeria 2nd Round: Argentina over Turkey S/M over Italy China over France USA over Germany 3rd Round: S/M over Argentina USA over China Bling: USA over S/M in double O/T with a certain Serbian as MVP even though he is on the losing side. Never gonna happen but the USA will still win the tourney, probably over Argentina.
Well, so far 1 out of 4 ain't bad. I really wanted to see Darko play some more, so I'm over it that they lost. I'm very fascinated with Darko right now. On the positive side, our one Piston is still in this thing! GO DELFINO!
I was busy last night and couldn't do a bracket in time, but I like Argentina to take the whole thing. They are that good.
