Our Live Draft is scheduled for Thursday, August 30th at 9:00pm EDT. The NFL season starts the following Thursday, September 6th. I'd like as many people to be able to attend the draft as possible. Rather than making a big poll with 100 different times on it, I figured I'd start out with a nice simple one to see if any change to the time is needed. Please cast your vote.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Jammer, I'd like to attend but as things stand right now I have to work that night. I have the following Friday through Monday (7th through 10th)off. Prior to that week, I will have Monday & Tuesday off, Plus be home in plenty of time to draft on those weekends. Do we want to do it a bit sooner? Sometimes things come up at the last minute, and we wont be able to get a live one going if that happens. Of course...do it too early and injuries can kill you. I'd really like to do a live draft, but you know if its not in the cards...no biggie...I missed the baseball one and I'm still kicking all your %%%%%es anyhow.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft So far it's a tie between can't make it but want to draft and I'm not even in the league but I really like poll! haha Tater, don't worry about not making the draft, I've already pre-drafted for you. I've selected all of the Detroit Lions back-ups as your top picks. The good news is that the majority of them will probably be starting by week 6. The bad news is that they'll still be playing for the Lions. Seriously though, I really didn't put too much thought into the draft time because I figured that there would be a good chance that it would be changing anyway. I figured that 1 week before the season was the absolute latest that I'd want to draft though. However I also didn't want to draft too soon due to the injury factor that you had mentioned. Usually the starters get the most minutes in week 3, so that would be the game that injuries might be a factor for teams' starters.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Well, if I get the Lions backups you draft for me...that means I get Drew Stanton. Oh wait, TFD will take all the Qb's. I'm screwed. Ok, well, once other people respond, hopefully we can come up with a different time I can make.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft I didn't vote because i'm not sure if i can make any date/time that's set out. the reason being is i am leaving my home in london and heading over to you guys in the states for some travel. so hopefully i'll be able to find an internet cafe at whatever time is planned. otherwise i'll be mailing in my auto-picks. the only way i could guarantee being at the draft is if it was before i leave (before 20th august). but i don't expect any allowances to be made for me. if you make a date, i'll do my best to be there.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Sounds good. Did you notice how Jammer tried to set the draft on a night when the two teams who were ahead of him in baseball couldn't make it? Now, I'm not saying he's corrupt...but...
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Go easy on the commish guys. He's a rookie, and it's a thankless job.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Not going to happen. Who knows if he'll ever volunteer again. I'm going to have my fun while the opportunity is there.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft This is going to be a BAD league. Already the vultures are circling. Why I get involved with you guys is beyond me. I haven't had this little fun since baseball started. I keep hoping you'll grow up. NOT LIKELY!
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Woody, I know you're getting excited about football, but don't give up on baseball quite yet. My fantasy baseball team only beat your team 8-4 this week. Scoring 4 points off me is considered a moral victory by most opponents. Congrats!!
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Bill: I know you and Darthko both have ESP, or is it called StatWacker, but I don't look at the scores until the night is over. That 8-4 score could be right, and if it is, its the worse I've done in several weeks. Next week its that Darthko guy. Lots of hot air, no life!
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft ok its getting closer to draft time, and i've got yet another sport to try and learn while trying to somehow be a fantasy guru. you'll be getting some questions from me again, so if anyone can answer i'd be most grateful. first up: what is the 'fan pts' column in the stats? is that just like a rating for the player? is it yahoo or expert determined or is it somehow related to what the fans think? cheers guys.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Fan points is fantasy points. It's funny that you asked Webz. I was going to explain this last night, but I was too tired. Football is harsher than the other fantasy sports we've played because you don't get partial credit for winning categories. For example, in baseball, you can go 7-4-1 (winning 7 cats, losing 4, and getting a tie in the last). But in football everything is added up. You win or lose that week. For example, let's say your pass receiver catches a pass for 18 yards and runs 4 more into the endzone and scores on that play. He would get (depending on our scoring system Jammer set up) about 6 points for the score, about .5 for catching the ball, and 2.3 for the 18+5 yards he gained. So that play nets 6+2.2+ .5 =8.7 fan points. I think every yard gained is .1 Fumbles are -1 Interceptions or fumble recoveries by your defense are 1 or 2 points. Typically, in leagues I've played in, you'll get about 100 points average at the end of the day, although scores of 50 or 170 are possible on really bad or good days for a player. So, if you & I played week one and you got 123.7 points and I got 115.8 points to end the week, you are 1-0 and I am 0-1. Even though I beat everyone elses score that week, I am still screwed. It's harsh. Does that help?
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft I split the $9.95 season cost of the Live StatTracker with my son. Over the course of an entire season it costs about 2 cents per day. That reminds me, I have to go collect today's 2 pennies from my kid...
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Man, you're lucky to have someone to split the cost with. I'm hoping to secure part-time employment to help me offset the one time fee. It's quite a financial burden on my family.
Re: 2007 PF.com Fantasty Football Draft Laimbs is pretty tight with his cash. IIRC, he owes me two American nickels.
