OK, our draft has been changed to Tuesday, August 21st at 9:30pm EST. It's a bit later than I'd like, but that was the best I could do based on everyone's availabilities and the available times slots from Yahoo, which are starting to fill up. I'll PM everyone in the league to ensure that everyone is aware of the change. To keep it fair for everyone that has already voted and is able to make it, I won't be changing the draft time/date again, so feel free to mark your calendars, call in sick to work, blow off your girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife/family. Whatever you have to do. I hope to see everyone there!
Just make sure that you pre-rank your players based on your preferences, strategy, injuries, etc. and you'll be good to go.
Jammer: I'm thinking of letting the computer pick my team. Is that possible!! Do I have to pre-select or rank the players, or will the computer do all the work for me??? I need help!
The players are automatically pre-ranked. I've had pretty good fortune in the past letting the computer do the picking. If you want to adjust the pre-rankings, say you favor one player over another (or several others) you can push him higher on your draft list, and likewise push down guys you think are overrated.
Woody might actually do pretty well if he doesn't make his own picks. Are you sure you can't make the draft, Woody?
REMINDER: Our Live Draft is THIS TUESDAY, August 21st at 9:30pm EDT. It is advisable to arrive at least 10 minutes before the start of the draft to ensure that you can log in and are comfortable with the settings, layout, etc. as our draft starts right on time. It is also advisable to test your system to ensure that you are able to participate in the live draft. You can do this from our league's Yahoo home page. Click on (test your system) just under League Notes. If you plan to do so, please ensure that you pre-rank your players up to 45 minutes before the start of our draft. (Note: players are already pre-ranked by Yahoo, so you don't have to rank them if you don't want to. You can use the default rankings.) Hope to see you all Tuesday night!
Bill: Your concerns are well taken. In hockey, I participated and picked a bunch of old-timers (Broduer, Iginla, Selanne, Brind'Amour, Lidstrom) and it turned out well. (Second place to a heavily sweating Tater.) In baseball, I participated and picked a bunch of old-timers (Pudge, Delgado, Rolen, Griffey, Bonds, Lidge) and my team sucked. In football, I would probably pick a bunch of old-timers ( Otto Graham, Leon Hart, Joe Schmidt, Lem Barney, and Doak Walker). They would all be injured or dead by the beginning of the season. I think I'll let the computer do the work. That way some computer geek or stat sprocket will find guys I never heard of. That will give me a big headstart on Tater.
I still can't enter the draft room yet!! whats up with that? Jammer has the number 1 pick. What a surprise.... haha. EDIT: In now.
