Rise, all loyal Cougars and hurl your challenge to the foe.
You will fight, day or night, rain or snow.
    Loyal, strong, and true
    Wear the white and blue.
While we sing, get set to spring.
Come on, Cougars, it's up to you!
    CHORUS:
Rise and shout, the Cougars are out,
along the trail to fame and glory.
Rise and shout, our cheers will ring out,
As you unfold your vict'ry story.
On you go to vanquish the foe for Alma Mater's sons and daughters.
As we join in song in praise of you our faith is strong.
We'll raise our colors high in the blue,
And cheer our Cougars of BYU.
    Rah, rah, rah-rah-rah
    rah, rah, rah-rah-rah,
    rah, rah, rah-rah-rah,
    GOOOOOOOOOOOOO COUGARS!

Washington got screwed last week when they played BSU.

Not blaming BYU, and maybe they win later anyhow, but wtf was that call all about?????

You must have been spoonfed all the camera angles that made it look like Locker dropped the ball behind his back, when in reality, he spiraled it straight up in the air maybe 20-30 feet, which is why you see the ball land in the same spot about 3 seconds later. Which is why he got flagged - for throwing the ball high in the air, which is always supposed to be flagged as excessive celebration.

    Also, were you watching this?

Notice #94 Jorgensen getting held by Washington and still coming up with the block. Story of the game.

But it was spontaneous. You can talk all you want about camera angles, but I think it's stupid to take the joy out of the game for the fans and the athletes. Now had he picked up a cell phone or something...

Sure, but that's a different debate. The call was not bogus, and the refs didn't cheat anyone but BYU (there were quite a few uncalled holding penalties to allow Locker to even get down the field and into the endzone considering how poorly he was throwing to his receivers).

The league can have a good discussion about the rule. But when the coaches ask the officials before the season to tighten up on their excessive celebration calling, you'd think people shouldn't get so up in arms when they do it.

    Poor BYU.

I wonder how many people outside of Utah felt that it was the right call?

BYU maybe was cheated out of winning the game the right way.

Yeah, there are bad calls every game to every team. But that one, IMO, was B.S.

That doesn't make us wrong. :stirthepot:

OK, OK, I'm not really that sad about the whole thing.

I do think that people should stop hyping up BYU's opponents before they play and then when we beat them, belittle the win by claiming that the losing teams were just bottom feeders. But I guess you probably know where I am coming from there with Boise State and all.

Anyway, I meant for this thread to be for anyone to talk about their favorite college teams or the latest BCS controversies (those are always fun).

Just got back from the USC/ OSU game. It really wasn't much of a contest, which is a shame, because the atmosphere was so good. What a nice campus there.

LOL. The locals here live and die with BSU. No other games in town (unless you count llama racing). I don't care either way. I'm a Sparty.

I do wish the teams from the bigger conferences (like MSU) would play them, but I think they know what's going to happen IF they lose to them...

A few different things. Had to go out there at some point for work and I have some rabid USC fan buddies, so I arranged the trip that weekend.

Since we had record rainfall in Chicago (the most in 130 years), I timed it pretty well.

The funny thing was how much the USC crowd liked seeing UCLA lose 59-0.

I knew that Michigan was going to be bad this year, but it is still embarrassing having to go through this season... and probably next year's too. Glad I'm not too into this stuff.

I can always count on Joe D to give me a good product!

With their 34-14 win yesterday over Utah State, #8-ranked BYU moves to 5-0. This game got ugly in the fourth quarter, when a shutout turned into 14 points in just a few minutes for Utah State, who has among the among the absolute bottom-ranked offenses and defenses in college football. They always get up for the rivalry game against BYU, though.

If that's what it took for them to wake up and stop overlooking inferior opponents, then I'll take the win.

Meanwhile, college football "experts" declare unequivocally in the Saturday morning ESPN College Gameday that an undefeated BYU would not possibly go to the NC game over a one loss SEC team. Hmmm, guys, if it's not thinkable, why are you and college football fans all over the country thinking and talking about it?...

I thought that only certain teams are eligible play in the championship game? It doesn't seem fair at all, but I think that's the way they set it up...:nerd2:

So I think teams like BYU & BSU are screwed. At least that's how it was explained to me. They can go to a BCS bowl...but not the championship.

In general, yes. Pretty much the only way is for an undefeated non-BCS team to have started the season well-positioned in the rankings and for the top teams to all have at least one loss, so that by the end of the season the non BCS team is in the top 5 or so. It's possible, though a long shot.

    Sorry CJ.

    TCU over BYU 32-7.

I hope Sparty doesn't lose that big to OSU this weekend...

Penn State has the opportunity to beat UofM and OSU in the same season. I'm wondering how many teams in history have done that. It must be sort of rare.

Penn State wins. No penalties and no turnovers. OSU must wait again. MSU still has a crack at Penn State on the last weekend. I hope both of those teams win the rest of their games leading to the matchup.

I'm not really a college football guy but I got a chance to see the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes play on TV over the weekend.
These dudes are a BLAST to watch!
They go "no-huddle" the ENTIRE game.
They on-side kick on a regular basis.
They lead the nation in scoring (56pts per).

If you get the chance to check them out on ESPN-8 (The Ocho), check 'em out!
