It is a tri-fecta tonight. Pistons and Wings wrap up their playoff series and Tigers sweep Yanks in Bronx. Made my day.

    Bring on Dallas.

This will be a VERY fun series for me. I work with a couple of Texans who I'm good friends with (one guy & one gal) and who are already talking crap...although they keep telling me I'm a Tampa Bay fan so I can't like the Wings.:stirthepot: Truth be told, although I do sport a Tampa Jersey, if it came down to it, I would root for the Wings...no question about it.

Plus Dallas is the parent club of the minor league (ECHL)Idaho Steelheads, so I root for Dallas a bit myself...until they play the Wings, that is.

Dallas has to put out San Jose first. That series is not decided yet. It's been very very close. One fortunate bounce can change the course of events.

Finally Wings opponent has been decided. Dallas beat San Jose in 4 overtimes 2-1 and will take on the Detroit team in the Western Conference finals. Wings avoid having to go to the West coast this playoff season which may benefit them in the long run.

Dallas should be mentally and physically exhausted too.

In the playoffs every little bit helps. Wings should be rested and a bit healed from these few days off. However, series doesn't start until Thursday, at least according to this. So Dallas will get 3 days off to rest and prepare. Not sure why would NHL make a break between the series so long, especially considering that the Eastern Finals do not start until Friday.

I had the same thought. Scheduling the first game between the Wings and the Stars for Thursday would have made more sense if a seventh game between the Stars and Sharks had taken place on Tuesday. Maybe I am confusing basketball and hockey, but it seems that usually the team that takes longer to conclude the preceding series (here, Dallas) is forced to start the next series in 2 days, or 3 at most. The Thursday start for the Wings and the Stars series seems to reward the team that took longer to finish its series (Dallas), by giving that team a lot of rest, while possibly hurting the team that finished its series more quickly (Detroit), insofar as too much time off can create a bit of rust.

Actually, the longer the break in Hockey, the better. Those guys are tired and beat up. Think football 3x over. Basketball is tough due to no pads, but the contact is not even close to Hockey.

I like Detroit in that series as well. Although I have to say that it shouldn't be as easy as it was so far.

Detroit in 5. I like the sound of it. But if Dallas tries to play keep away, they'll need 5 goals a nite to win.
    Demolition Man all nite long.
Turco gets pulled at least twice.

Do you think it'll be that lopsided? Also, to play keep away you have to have the puck and that's what Wings do most of the time. I guess they have it 65-70% of time on average.

No Dallas still has 3rd Q scoring problems. 6 or 7 games.

This is a tough series to predict. I see Wings coming up on top, but not sure how many game it will take. Wings have to thank Dallas for taking out Anaheim.
