2009-2010 MSU Spartan Football Thread

Sparty crushed a mediocre MAC team. Hard to be excited about it, but it was nice to get a win and keep bowl hopes alive. Need to beat Purdue next week.

Down 13 in the 4th quarterand pulled it out with huge offensive plays. The defense was horrible.

MSU 40-Purdue 37...but I think Purdue was the better team.

Bowl eligible...but undeserving perhaps.

MSU vs. CMU for the Pizza? (Remember, I called that one about 2 games into the season). (Experts are predicting the Alamo Bowl though, which is a step or two up).

My heart hurts. That was too close.

I'm thinking the way it will work (looking at the standings) is that MSU and 6 other teams are bowl eligible today, with U of M needing to beat OSU (unlikely) to get in.

I believe the Big Ten has agreements with 7 Bowls so at least that many teams get in if eligible.

So MSU is in for sure with a win, but if they lose and U of M wins, then it could be scary.

A Wolverine loss to OSU and MSU is in the bowl regardless of the outcome of our game vs. Penn State. A Minnesota loss to Iowa also helps us secure a better bowl, most likely. Big day ahead.

Pizza pizza. I'll take it. Started out 1-3. Any bowl works for me. U of M started 4-0 and came up empty.

Maybe the Spartys will go bowling in our backyard... vs CMU

• Michigan State finishes tied for sixth in the Big Ten with a 4-4 league record. The Spartans are in line for the Alamo Bowl or Insight Bowl, both against a Big 12 opponent. If the Big Ten gets two BCS bids as expected, Michigan State likely will end up in the Alamo.
If the Big Ten gets one bid, it’s still possible the Spartans could end up in Detroit for the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. But that would mean the Insight Bowl choosing Minnesota for a second straight year. And MSU athletic director Mark Hollis said he has no interest in cutting a deal to stay closer to home and save on travel expenses.

Yeah...they blew it. I'm interested to learn more about the fight. Supposedly two other players were involved.

Attorney for one of the injured parties is claiming more than 15 players were involved. If that's true, Dantonio has a pretty severe problem on his hands.

Today is the bowl game against Texas Tech. Tech's coach was fired a couple of days ago but I still expect Sparty to get blown out. All of those players suspended. Well...good riddance, I guess. Tech's great passing against our terrible pass defense. I just can't see a way Sparty can win. I'll try to make myself sit through the entire game although I wasn't even planning to watch it.

I've been rooting for the Big Ten teams.
