Let's talk 1990s when at least MSU had 2 winning seasons.

Of the top 25 Best Big Ten teams of the 1990s...Here's MSU

    #25 1990 Spartans 8-3-1
    #17 1999 Spartans 10-2

    NOW HERE"S MICHIGAN

    #20 1998 Wolverines 10-3
    #19 1990 Wolverines 9-3
    #12 1992 Wolverines 9-0-3
    #10 1991 Wolverines 10-2
    #9 1999 Wolverines 10-2
    #2 1007 Wolverines 12-0 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS

The teams were selected according to the following criteria (in no particular order):
    • Overall Record
    • Conference Record
    • Conference Finish
    • Strength of Schedule
    • Strength of Conference
    • Losses (to whom)
    • Blowout Losses
    • Significant Wins
    • Record vs. Top 30 teams
    • Power Ranking
Cave man analogies don't work. You folks have no recent decade where you're better than us. Let's face facts. You're just the Little Brother in this comparison.

Remember...this year, we still have a better record than you..even after 2 losses in a row.
Our rebuilding year will still net us a BOWL game. Any predictions for MSU this season, BOWL wise??? I didn't think so.............

True Dat!! True Dat!! Let's here it for the Good old Boys Network of the BCS.

However, we are probably talking the Detroit Bowl.

We need revenge against CMU. And Michigan will think they are too good to go to the Little Squeezer's Bowl, so we may get the bid, anyhow.:pound::pound::pound:

When there is no logical response, you resort to nonsense. Weak.

Actually...I'm holding out hope for a New Years Day Bowl for Michigan.

The Iowa game looked that promising.

It's nice to have hope. :)

I think you guys are going 7-5. Maybe 8-4. I don't think that will get you there even though you ARE Meechigan.

It's a little weak when someone with no ties to the school just so happens to pick the team that just so happens to have one of the most successful histories in all of college football to root for.

I believe Sheed referred to it as a "bandwagon-ass cat."

Kind of like Phoenix Suns fans.

Fair game for other team's fans to mock, in my humble opinion.

I had season tickets to UM for many years before moving.
I root for Michigan because they're the local Big Ten School.

It's like being a Lion's fan, or even a Piston's fan. They're the local teams.
    No bandwagon here...

It was not my intention to call anyone out. I was just trying to explain why some MSU fans might be mocking other fans that don't have any obvious ties to a particular team, especially when said team is (or at least was) one of the more successful teams around.

That's the nice thing about this site. We can be passionate, without flinging personal insults. Your post was fine...:)

Has anyone heard any updates on the injuries to Nicholl or Winston?

Last I heard the QB injury was minor but on the RB injury no new news.

First of all you presume to understand a posters motivation behind liking a school/athletic program. There are many reasons why someone may follow a program:

    1) Academic interest in the school, with a secondary interest in athletics.

    2) Children, family members attending/attended the school.

    3) Someone who simply follows all athletics that maybe in their neck of the woods. I follow the Lions and root for them. Last time I checked, they are far from being a winning team. I have also followed the Wings since the Dead Wing days.

    4) Some other contact/connection to the school.

Also, the term Walmart Wolverine is derogatory. Most of us don't know each other. How do you know whether a poster is a graduate of Harvard, MIT, EMU or OSU? They could be from an equally good or better institution, just not Michigan, not that it matters. You are what you do, where you're from has no bearing.

I expected better from this forum in terms of being considerate to other people's opinions and views.

You know it's never you. I have nothing but the highest regard for you.

You and the contributors efforts in maintaining and managing this board is commendable. I just didn't like the Walmart Wolverine term and photo being thrown about. It demeans posters and also assumes one understands another persons motivation.

Sorry if you find it offensive but how is Walverine more derogatory than the lil' brother references?

We State fans have taken far more than our share of crap over the years. Is it so wrong that we dish it back a little when the opportunity arises? :)
