This is the official 2009 Live Draft Thread.

The so-called experts sit in their cubicles conducting live blogs (boo hiss!), but we can live report and discuss the draft right here.

So have at it. Please use this thread for draft discussion for all teams including the Pistons.

    Nice job G-man. Thanks.

I'm hoping the masses are wrong.

This is who I really hope they get:

    Pippen Aint Easy Eric Maynor

I want a true PG with great decision making ability and he seems to fit the bill. Plus he should be available.

But as always, what do I know? :nerd2:

Any chance we get this guy?

The Amir trade has given rise to speculation about JD possibly angling to acquire another first round pick. Maybe the Hornets'? IF Maynor falls that far, the Pistons might give him a look.

I don't like the consensus pick in Mullens...the problem is he will be there when our pick comes up as I am not sure anybody picking a head of us wants him. So we have to hope that a wild card gets picked between 10-14 that leaves a better athlete/choice than even Clark is still hanging on the board...other wise I would go with Clark, Johnson or Daye in that order. Betcha if we pass on Mullens he stays on the board for another 6-8 picks before someone takes him.

Funny no mention of NBA TV pick Jeff Teague??

For my money, if we stick with the #15 pick, I like Austin Dayes smooth game. A 6"10 SF who can put the ball on the floor and creates his own shot. Let Arnie put 35lbs on this guy over the next two years and we'll have a freak on our hands. I've always been a supporter of traveling freak shows..:)

"63% shooting as a finisher and 44% on both catch and shoot and pull up jumpers Landing in the top-5 in PPP (points per possession) on our list in spot ups (1.11), fast breaks (1.28), and isolations (.82) while adding .7 PPP in 1.6 Pos/G in the post, Daye is able to operate in a number of different scenarios—which really highlights his skill-level and versatility." edited composite from Draft Express

He apparently couldn't bench 185 lbs once at whatever you call the NBA's scouting get together and had a 25" vertical. Dude is a hoss!

Durant was one of the worst athletes on paper when he was measured wasn't he?

Statistically those measurements mean little. The best athletes every year are often never heard from again this side of the Atlantic.

I forgot that Durant couldn't bench that either. Now I say definitely take this kid with that kind of upside.

And how much can Tay bench? Austin Daye reminds me of Danillo Gallinario. And I know a lot of you have not seen DG play, and even if you did he was injured the entire season. But, the impact I've seen the kid (DG) make on games by being tall, quick, with a nice outside shot, and able to D up 3 through 5 was impressive.

He also had the slowest sprint at the pre-draft camp. Other than that he's a catch.

Wing might be best fit for Suns
