    Some analysis from ESPN.com:

#15) Austin Daye is a kid with a ton of upside. He's super skilled and he can shoot the lights out, like a 6-11 Stephen Curry. But he's really skinny and he doesn't have a killer instinct. Ultimately he could be a 4 if he gets stronger, but for now he'll back up Tayshaun Prince at the 3. Great upside pick for the Pistons.

#35) The Pistons seriously considered DaJuan Summers at No. 15, so they are thrilled to get him at No. 35. Summers is a fantastic athlete, can shoot the ball and can play both the 3 and the 4. This is a great pick this late in the draft.

#39) Good Pistons player, a third combo forward. Jonas Jerebko is tough, runs the floor, has a great body and is really athletic. He needs more experience, but he's a nice asset.

#44) The Pistons are having quite a draft. Joe Dumars has to feel pretty good about getting DaJuan Summers, Jonas Jerebko and Chase Budinger in the second round. All three of those guys were rated as first-round picks on our Big Board. Budinger is a good athlete and can shoot the lights out -- but I'm not sure how four rookies make the team.

According to NBA Draftnet all of our picks were that we just got were projected to go in the first round. Jerebko was predicted to go at #28. Budinger was supposed to go before Jerebko.

Except for Summers, I think he was due to go in the early part of round 2.

So much for Budinger, rumor has it Joe's trading him to Houston for a future 2nd and cash.

I live in Tucson and I'm telling you right now Chase Budinger is one of the steals of the draft. This guy is really athletic, smart and has played for 3 coaches in his three years and did really well under all 3 of them. With his curly blonde hair he'll be a nice replacement for Fabio for eye candy.

Nice draft Joe and now go out and get the rest of the pieces in place.

Yeah..pretty glad this is over. I do wish we were able to get E Clark, but we seem to have solid picks.

The real fireworks begin 1 july.

would someone care to summarize what the pistons have planned for the center position this upcoming season?

i mean... it's safe to say rasheed wallace is gone, right?
there's kwame brown, but what if he opts out? perhaps even worse, what if he doesn't?
none of the guys they took today is a 5.
of the guys that have been discussed as possible free agent signings, are any of them centers? if they dump all that cash into boozer or millsap and gordon, then what?
i've heard rumors / wishful thinking about chris kaman; what if there's nothing to it?

    This was just appetizers.

Once the cap is set, then things will get REAL interesting, because if the cap shrinks, that's when teams will be ringing up Joe, looking to dump salaries.

Joe has taken care of the 3 & 4 positions to possibly back up Tay and hopefully fill the holes that Amir and Max could not. Lets hope Daye and the two second rounders have enough upside to make the team.

Right now it is Kwame at the 5 unless Joe grabs his new center in the FA this summer. Or he holds on the Dice and tries to wear him out again.

With all the talk about Stuckey being a combo guard, I am shocked that Joe didn't use that third pick for a pg, although since I have been off line and away from a TV most of the evening, I didn't really know who was left on the board who could fill that capacity.

With Donnie Walsh acquiring Darko by trade, perhaps it is now less likely he will pursue Gortat in the off season. I have touted Gortat as our primary target for the center position, but it remains to be seen whether Joe agrees (I got Kwame right so you never know), and if we do sign him, whether he will be solid enough to start and play 30-35 per night.

I'd like to get Kaman from the clippers but I don't know who we'd involve with that...rip or tayshaun for sure.

    Hey Roscoe,

It was fun being able to watch the up to the minute feedback, thoughts, and reactions of forum members on the draft. Thanks. Good idea whoever thought of this thread.

Well, so much for getting a player who could contribute right away in the first round, let alone the whole draft. Now we get to wait to see Joe blow free agency as well.
