Any takers? The season is approaching fast! This will be my first foray into fantasy sports on this forum.

The only thing I've done in the past has been fantasy basketball on nba.com a few times (2006 was the last time I did this). There we didn't have head-to-head matchups, and everyone in the same group could pick the same players if they wanted to. You had a hard salary cap, a roster of 5 and a sixth man, and you got to make two player moves each week. Player value went up and down like the stock market - when people were buying, the price went up, if people were selling that player, value went down. You got points for each stat category (1 fantasy point for each point scored, two points for assists, etc...) and the object of the game was to have the highest point total on the leaderboard.

Anyway, I think the way we play here is a bit different. Is there anyone more experienced than myself who would like to commish the league or at least explain the basic format of the game? I'm willing to be the commisioner if noone else will, but as I said, I have zero experience.

Darth, if you're lurking - I can pretty much guarantee you at least a few wins each month!

Please post if you want to play. Based on feedback we will decide how big the league should be, and whether we do a novice/advanced league, etc.

    LET'S PLAY BALL!!

If there's a "Scrubs League" this year, I'd like to be a part of it. I got shut out last year due to my vacation being at the same time of the registration deadline. It also might have been due to the fact that I was going to field an entire lineup of guys with the last name: "Williams". ...I think people were afraid.

I've never been involved in a fantasy sports league before.
    I'm up for it!

I will run a scrubs league. I don't know if we will have a novice league this year as most people who are hardcore should play advanced, and if you are not hardcore then scrubs is a fun place to start out, and learn fantasy + the league (deeper than the all start rosters).

I don't know if we will have an advanced league. I *assume* we will be doing our franchise league again.

I thought that "Scubs" and "Novice" were the same thing. It appears that I have a LOT to learn (including what an "all start roster" is).

    All star, you silly guys!

Scrubs league, we would knock off the top 100 or so players, so everyone had to draft guys who were primarily 4th options or backups.

Novice league, just meant a bunch of newbies to fantasy sports.

I don't see why they can't be combined. I suspect we will have a lower turnout than years past, and novice has had the same "no longer novices" competing in it for long enough IMO.

I wasn't rying to be silly (this time). I assumed that "all start" meant something to the effect that your entire roster was active for each game. ...like I said, I have a lot to learn.

I'm thinking that the Novice league would be a very good place for me. :nerd2:

Anyone seen Motown Pride around? I'll be in for Advanced if there's one.

I'm alive! Roscoe, should I assume I'm running advance again? If so, I'll get it started ASAP. Let me know.

I'm still interested in a novice league. The scrubs league sounds a little more difficult for a beginner.

I think you're right. I played both novice & scrubs leagues in my first fantasy season and I thought scrubs was tougher.

I thought about this, novice it is. We'll skips scrubs this year unless there is a serious demand for it.

@MoP, please do start up an advanced league. I would really appreciate the help. My plate is quite full.
