Let this be a reminder to all Michigan/ Detroit sports fans. Defense wins championships.

UM has the 2nd best offense in college football and they can't win a big ten game.

Did RichRod care at all about defense? Why would the team's defense get so bad since he took over? It's not like he's trying to install a whole new system and pushing good players out. Don't get it.

Sorry, I digress. This is about MSU. A 1 loss season would be a huge success, especially if they can beat a real opponent in a bowl. They'll probably be the underdog because of this convincing loss, the deterioration of ND and UM (2 of their wins), and the absence of OSU on their schedule, so that is what this comes down to- proving that this loss was a fluke.

I don't see how anyone who saw the game could consider it a fluke. I can't think of too many plays where MSU was not totally out of its league.

"We" could play that game over and over again ten times under the same conditions and I think it would be about the same outcome every time. Sometimes a bit closer, maybe, but still Iowa domination.

MSU is a pretty good team. Not real good.

    Figures. I finally bite...FINALLY...and then... KA-BOOM!!!:pound::pound::pound:

Polls were kind to Sparty. 15 & 16.

One has us above Iowa by one. One has us below by one. Hell, they just kicked our arse.

Well even though the poll likes to look at the last game, Iowa still has two defeats.

I'd agree if this game was at all close because it was on Iowa's turf, but it was a convincing blowout with a dominating defensive performance.

Since there is a human judgment element to the rankings and no set rules or formula that you have to follow, then I'd have to conclude that Iowa is a better team.

I'd rank UM about 50th in the country right now. Capable of barely losing to anyone in the country though.

MSU up 21-0 at the half. If Sparty were playing anyone else in the Big Ten we would be in trouble, but Sparty usually wakes up in 2nd half.

Sparty wins 31-8 against a bad team.

Wins are always nice but can't get too excited about this one. Last weeks bad taste lingers in this Spartan fan.

    The bye will be welcomed.

Darth...I was braggin to my wife about how the Spartans have followed my opening prediction to the letter, and she said, "The Spartans are only winning now because the Coach had a heart attack, and the team has ralleyed around him. Without that factor, they just go into their usual season ending swoon."

    What do I do?

    -Ya know...she could be Right..:cold:

-Has she insulted the current team, or their history?:stirthepot:

-Should I be jealous that she knows more about football than I?:pound:

-Do I just appreciate her love for football and keep my mouth shut?

I disagree with her. I'm not sticking up for Sparty and I think they are good but NOT very good. I think it affected them a bit...but I think they would have been good anyhow.

She has been wrong twice now.

    1.On Sparty

    2. Telling her parents that you weren't a shiftless bum and that she was going to marry you anyhow.

But great prediction so far. I remember laughing at you when you made it months ago. Uggh...I hate it when you are right...except this time I'm glad.

It was actually kinda cool seeing Treadwell run the team so well in Dantonio's absence...he didn't skip a beat .......:brick:

Seriously, I think he might get some head coaching offers down the road

Iowa loses today so there are only 3 teams left in the Big Ten with one conference loss.

Up until today, no Big Ten team had a clear path to the Rose Bowl.

However, With the Iowa loss...that may have changed.

    So far........

    Wisconsin beat Ohio State.

    Michigan State Beat Wisconsin

Ohio State Does not play Michigan State.

I'm not sure what any of that means, but if all three teams win out...here's the rules for Rose Bowl Qualifyer. I do not understand how they would affect these teams.

Look like they took out the rule where if you went last year and were tied this year you lose out.

Yea...I know. I expected to see that, but now it's more complicated.

However, Penn State is leading the Buckeyes 14-3 at the half. If OSU loses, then all MSU has to do is win out cause the have the tiebreaker against Wisconsin.:)

OK...What do you get when you drive through East Lansing with your windows down?

    A DEGREE...........

    :):):):):):):):):):):)

Looks like the Spartans could be in trouble trying to be the automatic qualifier for the BCS. If there is a three way tie with OSU and Wisconsin, they'll be looking at the BCS rankings for the placement. That is where the Spartans get no respect. What needs to happen is UM needs to defeat OSU to leave MSU tied with Wisconsin. In that situation the Spartans go because they won the head to head game....

Yeah, I told my fellow Sparty that I was going to be rooting for U of M in that game. He replied that he would rather root for Satan in a battle for the world before rooting for the Wolverines.:)

At any rate, IMO, Ohio State deserves the call over Sparty, IF they both win out.

Both Michigan teams will be getting nice bowls. It would be nice is MSU finally wins one.

I don't think rooting for Satan is a good idea.

Once he signed Lebron, you knew he'd pick up some fans though.
