Okay, the thread title is pretty corny, but it should be interesting over the next couple of months to see how the Lions look to improve on their 2-14 season. As long as the fans overpay Ford, he will continue to overpay bad managers. That's the lesson of subsidizing failure. You get more of it.
Very well put three-six! In a a word,...yes. In this case - fans are enablers! -STOP giving money to this org. -Write letters to the corporate partners of the Lions and tell 'em you don't approve and wont buy their products. -If you work for a company that has a luxury suite for Lions games, suggest that this money be spent elsewhere. -If buy tickets ...STOP! -If you have a friend who buys tickets, tell him to STOP!
If we don't support the product.... they will: A) Move to another city B) Spend less to improve I'm being hypocritical as I have only watched about 10 qtrs of play this year... I prefer the vocal method (that Balldon'tlie stated)... We WANT to see a line that can protect the QB & create a running game... We WANT to see a D line that can pressure offenses... What is there not to understand?
Sure. Profit is a signal that you are doing something right. The Lions continue to profit even though they do everything wrong. Why would you stop doing the wrong thing, if you are making a lot of money doing it? It's a basic question of incentives. If you spoil the child, you get a brat. If you subsidize the loser, he has no incentive to win. To quote Dick Vermeil speaking about Larry Johnson, "It's time to take the diapers off!" I don't know what it means, but it sounds cool.
I agree with (A)...Move them to another city. They can become the Los Angeles Lions. Dre will welcome them with open arms. Then we just apply for another franchise with a different owner. This is the only way to rid ourselves of them.
Would anyone really care if the Lions moved to another state? Really? And what state would be desperate enough to take the Lions. No one is going to get excited for the Lions, just laughed at by the rest of the USA. I agree people should stop supporting the team, but there isn't anything to do in Michigan in the winter. People still make the trip from all over MI to go see garbage. And the Ford's profit. Yay!
Why is it that every year, there is at least one team that goes from crap to success, and it never happens to be the Lions? Lions just go from one crap pile to another. I will say this for as many years as I have been following them. Year after year after year after year after year after year after Year after year after year after year after year after year afterYear after year after year after year after year after year afterYear after year after year after year after year after year afterYear after year after year after year after year after year afterYear after year after year after year after year after year afterYear after year after year after year after year after year after year after year. Ok slight exaggeration. I think one of those years they almost made it to the NFC title game.
