The Detroit Lions have won an appeal to the NFL in a tampering case. Sort of. The Lions will not have to forfeit their seventh-round draft pick this season as the NFL had originally ruled. But they’re not out of the woods. What the league has done is basically delay the punishment, according to Tom Kowalski of MLive.com. If the Lions fail to reach the postseason in 2011 – who are we kidding here – they will lose a seventh-round draft pick in 2012. If the Lions put the last 11 crumby years of history behind them and find a way into the playoffs, they will forfeit a sixth-round draft pick in 2012, not a seventh rounder. The Lions are still required to swap draft picks in the fifth round with the Kansas City Chiefs, meaning Detroit drops from ninth to 23rd in the round. It’s the result of comments Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham made during the season. By Brad Biggs ----------------------- told you we'd get 6 picks
Take the pick now while the team still has lots of needs....perhaps we won't stink so much later.....
Good logic...if it were a higher pick. Let's say a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd rounder... Besides...next years draft is stronger...
Speaking of Lions, they are the only Detroit team NOT playing on Sunday. This could be fun: Sunday: Tigers at Yankees, 1 p.m., FSD Sunday: Wild at Red Wings, 5 p.m., FS-Plus Sunday: Pistons at Celtics, 6 p.m., FSD
I agree. I would probably do that too. Spreads out the damage. Live for today. But then again, IF there is no season, it backfires.
I still don't know what's best for this team. CB is the biggest need but at 13 a good org. would go for trench. Looking at Ty Smith, [Oline] I think he's the real deal. Quinn hasn't played in a year but a 4.58, 270 lb. sounds good.
This guy would be good to protect Stafford. I don't think those good CBs will be on the board. There are a couple of DEs that might be available that you could pair up with Suh.
Lions had over 40 sacks last year. Be hard to improve on that with another DE whose a rookie. Who you gonna get rid of? not re-sign Turk? Actually, in some of the better 2 man mocks I've heard on Sirius, as many as 8-10 CB's have been picked in the first 2 rounds. A powerful front 4 can take care of a average CB group. Lion was not even that. Pick a OT @ 13, CB @ 44 and an OLB @ 75.
I don't mind being singled out as a dufus one bit...but categorizing me with nemo??? Fun is fun but I think you've taken it too far this time.
