But in the BCS poll..........MSU is 16th, and Wisconsin is 6th........
The BCS poll hasn't been updated yet.
Nemo is probably just yanking your chain. He does that sometimes, you know.
I know...just yanking your chain...actually MSU is ahead of Wisconsin in the update...
I think at #11, Michigan State is exactly where it should be. Perfect. I admit their team seems to be better than i thought it would be. Most weeks, I don't see them beating the top few teams or the Arkansas', Oklahoma's and Oregon's. I do see them beating the South Carolina's, and obviously they have beaten Michigan and Wisconsin. Michigan State can and will move up if they continue to win the games on their schedule. The worst seems to be out of the way, but to win the remaining five is easier said than done. Much easier. @ Nebraska. Nebraska favored by four (4). Sparty won 3 of the first ones in the four game gauntlet. Huge kudos. Huge. Ohio State (good), Michigan (good/very good), and Wisconsin (excellent) teams. I just think this game comes at a bad time. I wish the Minnesota game was first. Loss. Minnesota. If they can't win this home game then they won't be able to look in the mirror. Nothing is automatic but this SHOULD be no problem. Win. @ Iowa. The more I look at this one the less confident I am. It's hard for me to see MSU winning to go 4-1 the rest of the way, but I'm leaning toward a Win. They are coming off a bye week (Minnesota), after all. Very very tentatively as of now. Win. Indiana. See Minnesota above. Win. @ Northwestern. This one will be harder than it looks, but Michigan State shouldn't have any problem leaving with the "W". Win. Sparty goes 4-1 the rest of the way. (Hopefully 3-2 a worst). A victory over Michigan. A 10-2 or 9-3 record in a year with a super tough schedule. Very nice. Very nice indeed. Prove me wrong Gill Guts.
As a Spartan fan, it makes me nervous when you predict victory.
My track record with predicting MSU games has been excellent. I don't have to prove myself...the team STILL does for you... I'm used to your lack of confidence in MSU...it's ok... I didn't get a score prediction for the MSU - Nebraska game...from you.. I enjoy those when you predict a score for MSU...they're fun to see. Please predict a score for me....please...please...please...
You speak true, Linwood. I was thinking the same thing. But as you see, when game day approaches for the real toughies, I always back off my victory predictions, and prognosticate a LOSS, and then argue with nemo about it. ;) Stevie Wonder ~ Superstition - YouTube
nemo, you are such a Knotheaded chicken. When was the last time YOU predicted a score? It's only Monday. I'm not scared. I will put one up. Plus I will predict the Michigan game. Will YOU? Bok Bok. Bok. I ordered fish...NOT poultry. Series: Nebraska leads 5-0 (Nebraska 17-3 in Dec. 29, 2003, in Alamo Bowl) Did you know? Michigan State has lost its five games to Nebraska by an average of 29.4 points. Michigan State Spartans | Michigan State-Wisconsin could have been Big Ten title game preview | The Detroit News
I won't predict the Michigan score...I have no idea how they will do against Purdue. Both of these schools have been very unpredictable, and I simply cannot offer a reasonable estimate. After you predict the MSU score, then I'll take a stab at it... Your prediction will help guide me...in another direction, score wise...
I don't have any idea on ANY of these games, obviously. However it doesn't stop me from making predictions on every last one. Why not???
Did you know? 2 of the losses were over 90 years ago 2 of the losses were in the mid-90s when Nebraska was the game's most dominant team The last loss was during the first year of the John L. Smith tenure. JLS [SARCASM]wisely[/SARCASM] played his anticipated future star QB Drew Stanton on special teams. Stanton ended up blowing out his knee that game and needed reconstructive surgery
Darth [STRIKE]wants them to lose[/STRIKE] is picking them to lose so he must rely on any data that he can find...

I was sharing that because I found it interesting. Not to prove a point, show a pattern, or to predict a loss. However, I was wondering if a Dantonio coached MSU team has won an away game when none of the current Spartan players had played at the stadium before (as a Spartan)? I really don't know the answer to that. So previous Big Ten games don't count. Let's leave out Notre Dame too. I know they lost a slew of Bowl games. I remember them losing to California a couple years ago. So now they go to Nebraska who they haven't played in about ten years. So I do see a pattern there. Michigan State has played Notre Dame and played OSU, U of M, and Wisconsin. Three good teams and one really good team, IMO. So obviously they have had a very tough schedule and came through the last three consecutive very tough games unscathed. So they apparently have a very good team. I don't know, offhand, of any other teams in all of college football that had such a tough road. I totally underestimated them Spartan team. That being said, they can't win every game. Can they? I just can't see them winning this last one on the road. Not right now. Bad timing. At home they win it. Before you knock my prediction, why don't you put yourself out there and make one of your own? ([STRIKE]nemo and detteam[/STRIKE] You know who you are).:attention Nebraska 27 MSU 17
Nebraska is not as good as Wisconsin...and MSU beat them. Nebraska offensively is a one-demensional team, only strong at running the ball. Their QB is VERY suspect in the passing game...Let's compare QB stats... N 1,100 yards passing on the season, 55% completion rate, 7TDs and 6ints... S 1,600 yards passing on the season, 67% completion rate, 11TDs and 4ints... Now we both know that Cousins hasn't exactly put up heisman numbers, but compared to this guy... Now let's look at defense... State gives up 13 points per game... Nebraska gives up 26 points per game... As far as yards given up per game on defense in the Big Ten... MSU is #1 by 60 yards per game... N is ranked 8th..... My prediction is MSU 40 - Nebraska 13 I figured I would look at your prediction...go the other way, and at least, double the point spread...
Wow! That was a FANTASTIC article from top to bottom. What can you say? he really puts it in context. The writers logic was very sound although I do wonder sometimes about "anonymous sources". Anyhow, again, I read every word. Thanks for sharing that. I was thinking before he said anything about it, that there are a couple of protected teams in the Big Ten. I'm so happy that MSU won that Wisconsin game. No penalties. What a statement. Great team unity and discipline. GO MSU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@ Fish Guts, I will probably get a reprimand from Rascoe for this [STRIKE](which might not be so bad since I never hear from him)[/STRIKE], BUT ARE YOU SMOKING CRACK OR DID YOU ACCIDENTALLY BUMP YOUR HEAD ON A CORAL REEF?????
You probably noticed that I never pointed a finger at MSU during this ordeal. I've always felt that these were heated battles and that the players should be allowed to play. There's always more than what meets the eye anyways...Nice to see that MSU brass confronted the Big Ten offices.
