I know its early but with the Pistons out of the playoffs maybe we will get lucky and win a top 3 pick - is there anyone here worth getting excited about? DraftExpress: Mock Draft
Irving is good, but he only played played 11 college games and IMO should stay at Duke and get the some more schooling from coach K. Sullinger is another freshman, but looks just as good or better [STRIKE]JMAX[/STRIKE] than some of the forwards on the Pistons squad. Derrick Williams is very athletic at the four and he could step in ahead of some our guys too. Kemba Walker could be our Derrick Rose, and I would take him despite all the guards we have now in hopes that we could get rid of two of them this summer. Agree the Morris twins from Kansas are great, but you may need both of them to make them affective
I think Kemba Walkers roof is something more like Brandon Jennings or Aaron Brooks (or a Rodney Stuckey without size) if every thing pans out perfectly. On the other hand, I've only seen him for 2-3 games. If we don't hit the jackpot in the lottery I'd go with one of the bigs.
Many players say there coming back right after a tough loss in the tournament. Wait and see once the agents and $$ start talking

Three Morris' would be great package deal, but I am hoping the one at Michigan stays in AA for another year or 2 Beilein on Morris' possible jump to NBA: 'It's a good issue to have' | detnews.com | The Detroit News
It hurts the team in the short run, but it also helps in recruiting. And a coach can't fight it... they may as well pretend to embrace it.
Obviously would love to have Irving or Wiliams, but, unless the lottery balls bounce in our favor, I'd definitely like to see us pick up Brandon Knight. I may a bit high on him considering I only watched his high school stuff and tourny stuff (so I didn't see the not so good middle) but I think he could be solid value depending on who falls to us. To be realistic, we probably won't be getting a Monroe to fall to us, but I guess who knows
If we keep Rip and company for another year, we could tank for the 2011-12 season and go for Doc Rivers' kid in the 2012 draft.
We're not due for another championship until 2018, so I'm on board with this. Just keep tanking until Rip, Gordon, Bynum and CV all expire and then we can start rebuilding.
With Sullinger reportedly going back, and Barnes currently on the fence, I'm interested to see how this draft shakes out. Not completely convinced the talent is there this year, could be a pretty weak draft. I know Pistons fans don't want to hear this, but this is shaping up to be the strongest international draft class we've had in a while. But unlike the early 00's, these are guys that actually play for their foreign teams.
Detroit currently stands at slot #7. The Clippers have 3 more wins and the Nets have 3 less wins than the Pistons. If the Pistons finish with the 7th worst record, here are their odds: 1st pick: 4.3% 2nd pick: 4.9% 3rd pick: 5.8% 7th pick: 59.9% 8th pick: 23.2% 9th pick: 1.8% 10th pick: 0.0% That gives them a 15% chance of a top 3 pick.
