Some observations by Nemo about the loss by Michigan. 1. No way could Michigan have won that game under any circumstances. 2. Hoke knew this so he pretended this was an exhibition game for Michigan. 3. He went away from bread and butter plays and tried a whole lot-o-new crap. 4. Subsequently, he was saving the team from embarrassment. 5. With the game decide by halftime...he started more of the conventional offense. 6. I was saddened to see Alabama get 8 yards per carry on the ground. 7. I will offer no excuses (alabama-best o-line-last 15 years...UMline new) this doesn' fly with me. 8. Neither does not trying to win the game from the start. 9. I can see why LSU didn't cross the 50 yard line during the whole championship game......... ..............LSU was shut out and badly beaten that game. 10. Is Michigan #8...........we all know they get the Michigan advantage during rankings........I would never seriously deny this. 11. Is Alabama #2...........I wouldn't wanna play them if I was #1...............Anyways..........they'll be #1 soon enough... 12. On with the Big Ten schedule..........Michigan never had championship aspirations anyways. 13. We now have seen what the green weinee's up in East Lansing have to offer............let's get it on.
Running the ball more would have been the key to getting exactly 0 points. Bama was stacking the box and daring us to pass. Execution is important. To quote the legendary coach Saunders, "we just needed to make more shots."
yeah and lead to fumbles that ended the game by the first quarter. clearly a no win situation and just as embarrassing
Luckily, we don't play anybody else even semi challenging in the next 3 season openers. Notre Dame in the 2nd game of each though. This still could turn into a really good season despite getting crushed by AL. All we have to do it run the table.
Blake Countess my favorite player on the team done for the year with a torn acl... Huge blow to the team.
College football Top 25 rankings: Alabama atop AP poll for Week 2 - NCAA Football - Sporting News Bama rises to # 1 and will stay there for awhile and M drops to 19th and it will take them awhile to get back to the top 10...which will require about 8 straight victories and losses by half to the 18 teams ahead of them
Any Mich fan with any knowledge knew that we were going to get smoked and had to have a perfect game just to keep it respectable. We lost some major talent (not that we had much to start with) and were crazy over rated. We did go 11-2 but who did we beat last year? We won a BCS bowl, but again who did we beat? (and struggled to beat at that). Our current ranking is about right now.... I wouldn't have started us any higher the 15th. We are on the right road, but we don't have the horses to run with the big boys yet. I wish this game was the opener for 2015, I'd say that team (assuming things go like I think they will) would give this Bama team a run for its money.
Yea the few great players we had last year that are gone were Carr's last recruits... our lines right now are dreadful on both sides of the ball... When you can argue the 2nd string QB after a few weeks of camp is your best WR you know your in trouble.
Actually flip Saunders compares to Bo Schembechler. Both did well during the season. but lost too many post season games. Rich rod compares to our coach who wore strange suits.
When I think Bo, I think boring offense, solid defense. When I think Rich Rod and Flip, I think of coaches who believe that offense trumps defense and a tendency to reach for fool's gold (i.e. offenses that cream weak teams and can't perform against great defenses). Bo was the master of the first play hand off up the middle for 1 yard to start every game.
I see Bo and Flip both sticking to their game plan.....happy to pile it on during the regular season, while not getting ready for the post-season.
Bo's Goal = Win Big Ten... and he did that very well... Flip's Goal = good question.... should have been playoff success, but I wonder if it really was.... LOL. Either way he failed in Detroit. During Bo's years there was no post season, only bowl games which matched us up against USC or UCLA most years in there home stadium.
Bo was the master of the first play hand off up the middle for 1 yard to start every game NEW SET OF DOWNS!
I thought I posted that Mich Alum's were so upset with Hoke and Denard that Hoke tweeted a "shut-up".
