No excuse.........Bo coulda, and shoulda prepared for the trip out west. Those games were important........ask any former player, or BillLaimbeer.
Michigan survives the triple option offense with a couple of defensive stops in the 4th to hold off the Air Force Service and Freedom guys. The Wolverines defense is definitely not ready for prime time....especially if other teams try to run the same type of offense. Looks like the only rushing offense is Denard Robinson, as Fitz Toussaint played just as well as he did last week ...when he sat out the game. Today carried 8 times for 7 yards.... For those who were watching the Spartans, Robinson scored two rushing TD's, one for 79 yards and one to open the second half of 58 yards. He also threw two TD's to former QB, Devon Gardner... Final score M 31, AF 26...
My biggest concern is run blocking. All Fitz saw when trying to run today was donut holes. Our o-line was bigger, but we couldn't clear out those guys. Pass blocking was excellent. Their offense ran 69 running plays, and a total of 89 plays............yet we outgained them. They (AF) were just fun to watch. Same offense as my high school.
A win is a win so count your blessings. I think Michigan is a "pretty good" team but they have a ways to go if they want to hang around thev"really good" teams cough*cough like Michigan State* cough
Here's my High school footage...........the guy at the :45 second mark is known as "No Neck Nemo". Nobody messed with him............ Plaque was dedicated to a member of my graduating class. Best team in school history.
Michigan 59 Massachussets 6. Michigan is 45.5 point favorites. Yes, Massachussets IS that bad. This will be ugly. But it will be "Fools Gold" for U of M fans. But always fun to watch these these scrimmages. Kind of like MSU beating Central this past week. Lotsa feel good stuff in these "scrimmage type blood money games.
Betcha M lets them score two TD's....because they don't have the killer instinct...I don't like to predict scores, so I will just say that they win by 30....
Denard needs to pump up his stats in games like this. He's only averaging 122 yrds per game on the ground so far this year.
Denard has a history of looking like a top Heisman trophy candidate against the lousy and mediocre teams. But he looks like crap against the good and great teams. He will be "pumping" all day against Massachussets. You are probably correct about Michigan giving up some touchdowns, Dre. But not because they lack a "killer instinct" The more I think about it, Michigans defense sucks and they are not likely to prevent even a team like Massachusetts from putting it in the end one a couple of times. But I will stick with my prediction... Just for kicks and "Wiggles".
