It would make sense to move him now, but the Eagles are expecting too much in return......... Dumars just won't be able to pull off this trade..............
The Lions can't afford his contract currently. They'd either have to restructure more contracts, re-sign Avril to a long term deal or trade him to make the $$ work. I'd be fine with adding him for the right price - both financially and what they'd have to give up to get him - but he's now 31, which is getting up there in age for a CB.
There is no reason the Lions cannot win the Super Bowl next year. They are close. Samuel could help. Focus on the next couple of seasons.
I agree. A few smart draft choices and a couple of other solid transactions and they are right there. Healthy running backs will be key, too.
NFL.com news: How does free agency impact NFL hierarchy? Bears hit top five This power ranking after free agency shows a different light on the Lions......... Bears and Packers in the top 5.........a team with our ranking finishes around 9-7...
Oh...but it is for the Lions, except for the draft....Don't expect to see a splash in free agency...more like a dribble.
I've been a Lions fan for about 40 years. I know when they suck and I know when they really suck. Right now, I think they are actually getting close to doing something special. I can feel it.
I know how you feel. I've been watching seriously since 1967, and watched my first game in 1962.... I just have some concerns about team chemistry right now and I'm worried that they may bubble over....
I have that feeling too... but that is how the Lions get ya. They are like the Cubs. Let's hope we can soon achieve our 2nd playoff victory since 1957 very soon.
I haven't let them get to me in a while. The Millen years really sucked a lot of optimism (even if it was false) from Lions fans.
I don't expect a big free agency splash, but there could be a trade or two. Mayhew has already shown he isn't afraid to go that route. If they can't sign Avril to a long term deal, I could see him being moved. Corey Williams is another candidate as he makes around $5 million and plays at the deepest position on the team. I'd love to see them sign Atogwe. He should come cheap, is a ball hawk and would provide some solid veteran depth. Plus, he's from Windsor and grew up a Lions fan.
We weren't any worse than the Giants last year and they got it done. Hopefully there is luck involved.
