A player on a rookie contract demanding a trade is idiotic. First off, in order to demand a trade and not get laughed at, you need to be a very good player. If you're that good, there is no incentive for that team to trade you away because they're not going to get good value back in players due to salary mismatches. It only would work if they get 1st rounders or another star rookie in return. Most teams are reluctant to do both.

I don't think Cousins has ever been confused for a logically thinking person

This move is most likely from his agent.

Yeah, the agent is working it with new ownership. Maybe if the posture and rant they'll get the brass to open up the checkbook and sign off on it.

I just hope he doesn't get a Max contract because he's no where near that good... and if he does that will set the bar pretty high for us to resign Monroe... another good but not max guy.

How does it work with a coach trade and salary cap, etc?

Great question! I had no idea you could trade coaches for players.

You can't. They didn't trade for Rivers. They gave the Celtics some compensation for letting him out of his contract early.

Coaches do not count against the salary cap. If so, then JD would not be so wonderful.
