The Pelicans waived Omri Casspi today.

I am truly afraid of what debate I have just unleashed on this thread!

I for one was kind of happy that King James decided to go home to Cleveland and wondered out loud if there were any decent free agents out there who wanted to come "home" to Michigan and play for the Pistons.

We know "old"Jalen Rose would don a uniform in minute if offered and C-Webb already tried it. There is no one out there that would even make a a quarter of the impact that James will make with the Cavs.....All we have is Manny Harris, Jordan Crawford, Chris Douglas-Roberts, JaVale McGee, , Wilson Chandler, Chris Kaman, Draymond Green, and the retiring Shane Battier.

Back to my original thought....I was happy for James, but now that I see that he and Gilbert are throwing everything they can at the Twolves to get Klove. I am now on team Chicago to land him instead of the Cavs...who are basically trying too hard. This had to be the plan all along for LeBron as he had probably spoken to Love about it.

I am glad the Twolves are playing hard ball as we don't need to see Lebron assemble another super team that dominates the EC for the next 4 years like the Heat tried to do.

He learnt from the best when it comes to overvaluing your own players.

Battier would be an interesting pickup to set the tone.

    OK...took a break...

Apologies to Panda and the rest of you guys/gals...I was a grouchy SOB the other day. I'll try NOT to post when I'm already in a crappy mood. That was totally unnecessary.

...and for the record. I give Brandon Jenning's mustache a 6 out of 10.

I didn't realize he had one until I read this. I had to google photos of Jennings, which made me uneasy.

Mentor or even a job coaching some defensive skills to Singler would be nice....give him a job SVG....we don't need to see that wrinkled skull on ESPN trying to mince words with Jalen..

Why would we want a bunch of mediocre role players to desire to play for the Pistons based on nostalgia?

Like I said in my comments, we have no current Michigan born players that could make even a fraction of the impact that Lebron has coming back to his home.

I just listed who they were so that you wouldn't have to go searching for them...

The Twolves should hold out for the best deal possible. The whole LeBron return to the Cavs is a great story. However, when you think about it all it is really suspect how the Cavs got the #1 pick this year and are dangling that pick to try and acquire Love. The NBA seems more and more like the WWE when it comes to their superstars and free agency.

I seems like the best players from Michigan don't seem to have much of a love fest for their home state. They seem to want to leave and never come back. Magic had an opportunity to own the Pistons and declined. Webber turn Joe D. down when he was in his prime as a free agent. He only came here when he was washed up.

Jalen is the biggest homer of them all.loving the Pistons, Lions and Tigers...you know he probably wished he was on that 2004 championship team.....I know Grant Hill, Jon Barry and Chucky Atkins wish they had gotten a piece of that 04 ring...just like Dantley is still bitter that he didn't get a ring from 89 team that he claims he help put on the map....

The longer they hold out, the less leverage they have.

If they got offered a future first + Wiggins, they should have jumped and made the deal. My guess is that Cleveland is offering future first + Dion + Bennett or Thompson. If I'm the Wolves and I think that Love is definitely going, I have to take that deal. The Bulls offer is hot garbage after you consider what it does to the team.

The problem with trading for a superstar is that you make your team less appealing to the guy by virtue of the trade. Cleveland is in a great position where they can offer up heaps of great trade pieces without significantly altering the team. I highly doubt Wiggins gets traded - he will be the guy that expends all his energy guarding the guys that LBJ doesn't want to. Which is exactly what they need. The Cavs are awful on defense, if they trade away their second best perimeter defender (who gets that nod by virtue of the fact that he is breathing), then they have lost the plot. Bottom flight defensive squads don't win championships.
