Lack of playoffs with megatron, stafford, and bush would get any coach canned.
aside from Johnson , who had his own skills, who else does Stafford ELEVATE to greatness??? To me, thats the sign of an elite quarterback.
He's good, not great.
If they had won yesterday, they would have had a 5-1 division record and still would haave finished third in the division...
Irony is that the last Lions victory was vs the Packers on Turkey day ....a resounding 40-10 victory.... The Lions went 0-4 after that and the Packers were 3-1 and won the division.
Lions need to play more games on Thanksgiving.
Well....since they hadn't won on Thanksgiving since 2004...we probably would have lost this game if Discount Double Check had played....
Stafford is fading fast.
But i liked how the Dee surrendered the least points in the Div.
Yes, and the poor finish. Losing 1 out of the last 7, I believe.
I wish they lost 1 out of the last 7.
Oops, 6 out of the last 7.
Have heard many commentators talk about how this is the best coaching job available given the talent on the team. Boy, I'd like to believe that. I really, really would. Given the ownership, it is not easy.
TWENTYMAN: Five coaching candidates that could make sense for Lions
Only one, Whisenhunt, is a likely candidate. Lovie is slated to Tampa Bay, O'Brien is headed to Texas,
Gruden is staying in the booth, and Shaw is staying at Stanford. Twentyman is way behind the loop.
For an old guy, Woody actually makes perfect sense with this assessment. Wow. I just need a moment to take that in....
Ok. All good.
wish we could get all ex divisional coaches cause they know the division.
Just looking over some of the stats:
Seahawks surrendered 231 pts, Panthers 241, league avg. ~350 [guessing]
Stafford had 27 TDpasses with 4-5 games to go and ended up with 29 !
We pretty much dominated our opponents in every category except TOs -12, with 19 TOs the next worse TO team had only 12.
Although the Lion passed for 3rd most yd. it was slop. With a 84 passer rating you need to look down 7 more teams to find a worse PasserRating.
The Lions went 4-2 in the division this year. The Lions problem is much bigger than knowing the division.
True, but I don't want to lose the only good thing from this year.
Tony Dungy said if he returned to coaching he would want the Lions job. That they're closest to winning the Super Bowl and have a hands off owner.
Tony Dungy on Detroit Lions coaching vacancy: 'That's the job I would want' (if I wanted a job) | MLive.com
Wow. To get a smart character guy like that would be awesome for Detroit. They need to beg him and give him whatever he wants. He would gain everyone's respect immediately and get guys like Suh to think right.
I'm not sure whether he was hinting to test the waters or what but Detroit probably isn't wise enough to pursue him anyhow.
Offer him both the coaching and GM jobs!!
