Lions tank the season and finish 7-9 after a 6-3 start.
They were favored pretty much all those last 7 games.
Wish we had a player-leader like Brett Favre who could stimulate some direction.
Our player leaders failed us...especially this last season.

Didn't help that the coach was a baffoon.

The 4 playoff teams left in the NFC are all ranked top 5 in the NFL defensively.
The Lions however, are only interviewing offensive minded coaches.

What we need is better leadership and more player focus.
This should reduce mistakes. Our offense is ranked very high.
So just bring in an effective Offensive Coordinator.

Let's interview some defensive minded head coaching candidates.

He probably already decided. Just had to wait until the Chargers folded before he could officially announce it.

I think ya gotta go out and sign Tony Dungy now.
I'm not interested in anybody else at this point.
We can replace him at ESPN with Thee.............:pizza:

If Caldwell had passed then then there would skeptics out there that would say that potential coaches are opting out due to questionable ownership.....right Darth?

    This looks promising:

Under Caldwell this season, the Ravens were 29th in total offense (307.4 yards a game) and 25th in scoring (20 points a game). Quarterback Joe Flacco, who Caldwell was brought in to mentor, threw more interceptions (22) than touchdown passes (19) this season.

Too bad almost no one wants to coach the Lions. The Fords should have antied up big bucks to bring Dungy or Gruden out of retirement after Lovie & Whisenhunt were off the table

At Wake Forest as head coach, he was 26 - 63, but installed a high powered passing attack.

Kinda sounds like what we've had around here before.

The Lions screwed this up. They should have fired Schwartz after the Lions were eliminated from the playoffs after the Giants game so that Lovie Smith and Bill O'Brien could have been considered.

Caldwell is an upgrade over Schwartz and we will see a more professional prepared team on the field. I am not sold on him taking this team to the playoffs next year. This team has salary cap issues and are in a tough division.

Mostly what I am hearing from "the experts" is that Caldwell will instill discipline and straighten out Stafford. Prognostication means nothing, of course. I'm sure it will help sell tickets. Yaaaay, Fords!

Let's give him the benefit of the doubt...if the schedule is favorable and he goes 0-4 in December, then we get rid of......unless he is already 12-0....

    You are of course correct.
    He certainly deserves a chance.
The long enduring Lions' fan just needs to vent.
We do this because Parcells wasn't hired,
along with Buddy Ryan as his defensive coordinator.
