Eddie LaBaron was drafted in 1950...this guy was drafted in 1952.
Eddie Threw lasers, and was fantastic.
Fran could elude rushers, and make plays.
Fran Tarkington was listed as 6 feet tall.

Here he is Woody............Do you remember him?

He played for the University of Detroit....

Of course Woody remembers him. Woody also remembers Noah and Abraham, who also quarterbacked some impressive teams.

I think Noah played defense. Back then, they'd send two extra blitzers at a time. I think it was called flooding the QB.

There is an article in the Detroit news today that the 49ers and Brown's had been in negotiations to trade coach Jim Harbaugh for draft choices.

Jim Harbaugh for draft picks? Niners deny trade with Browns was in the works | The Detroit News

Assuming it was true, and he really was able to prevent it from happening, maybe he would have agreed to go to the Lions since he played for Michigan. Maybe he's a bit like Bill Laimbeer and rubs people the wrong way. Either way, even though he is from Michigan, I have to admit he's a great coach.

So I am wondering. If you guys were the Detroit Lions would you make that deal? If so what would you give up for him? What do you think the Browns were willing to offer? A third round pick this year and a fourth round pick next year? Is that too much or too little? If the Eagles did not have Chip Kelly as coach I think I would want them to make a deal. Harbaugh makes winners. So if I traded a couple of draft choices big deal because I think Harbaugh would give me a better chance of getting to the Super Bowl without those draft choices then in another coach would with those draft choices. Unless we are talking the Bill Belichick's of this world.

I would be very interested in knowing your thoughts on this. Sigh. even you nemo. :boink:

When most people hear that Noah is in town they think of the tennis player or his son the basketball player and they hurry and get pens and paper for autographs. Woody hurries to grab his raincoat and umbrella and climbs onto his roof.

I hope you guys are having fun. Humor is always good for the soul.

I do remember Eddie LeBaron, although not the one at UofD, but the U of Pacific, and in the NFL. I was starting college then. Fran was running around with Bud Grant and the Vikings.

There are days when I feel closer to Noah than I do to you guys.

I don't think we can afford Harbaugh. But how about Darth? What would we need to give up to get him?? Or Nemo??? Or Laimbeer????

First, I thought that was made illegal, trading coaches for picks.
Rumor was Clevelands entire '14 draft, including 5 in the first 3 rnd.
9ers would need 3 first rnders.

next Q, what is Pettigrew worth or what will Lions offer ?

You don't want a coach that didn't want to be here.

I looked at the guard grades and they have R.Sims at bottom 15. I thought he was better than that.

Detroit Lions 2014 Schedule - Lions Home and Away - ESPN

Bears in Chicago and Packers in Lambeau to finish the season. If those games are meaningful, we may be in trouble. The Lions have historically struggled (1) on the road, (2) in December, and (3) in cold weather. Combine the three and it may not be good.

11-5. They're good to go their first nine. (8-1) Then 4-3) But things never go as they should. It could be opposite. But The Lions are way overdue to have really good things go their way. Ford is gone.

I figured they would let Caldwell get a couple games under his belt before MNF.

    Interesting schedule...

First week is Monday Night Football

A 9:30 AM game on Sunday....It'll start here at 7:30 AM :pizza:

    The Bears on Thanksgiving...:dancingparty:

....They win on an OT kickoff return...1977

....We win when Barry shreds their defense for 177 yards...1999

This schedule lays well for our team...It's the best I've seen in a long time.

I was at that game when the Bears scored on the last play and won on an OT kickoff. The guy I was with got some seats right on the 50. We were with the players families. Maybe third row. Never had any seats even in the same zip code as those. Anyhow the guy ran down the sidelines And I felt like I could grab him as he ran down the sideline right in front of us.

Worst turkey I ever ate. Could've been the best.
