What's even more reprehensible is the coaching staff playing the worse QB. Dave Kreig was available, what he couldn't beat Scott out at practice ?
Hadn't been with the team long enough ? Dave Kreig had more QB sense in his stubby neck than Scott had in his brain .

Why was Mitchell highly valued coming out of college ?

Who was the bigger mistake ? Scott or Darko?

Back in 1995, Mitchell had one of the best seasons (10-6) as a QB in the last 50 seasons of Lions' football. He threw for over 4,000 yards (back when that was hard to do).

Mitchell stepped up for Marino and then got the Lions gig in free agency. I dunno anything about his college career.

Those 90s Lions teams (Great Lakes Offense) were fun to watch, Perriman, Moore and Morton.

Just think how good we would have been if we had a QB!

    Mitchell by a freaking MILE.

Darko was a bad pick that sat down on the end of the bench while the team won a champiosnship and went deep in the playoffs each year. He had little effect on the the team's outcome other than the missed opportunity of having a productive young playier in his stead.

Scott Mitchell was stuck into the all important starting QB role and KEPT there for the better part of 5 years.
Unfortunately, those 5 years happen to be during a period where the Lions had what many to believe was the most talented running back of all time. Add to this -- an outstanding core of receivers and a very capable defense.
IMO, aside from Mitchell and Fontes, the Lions were set up to go as far of farther than any other Lions team had ever gone.
I blame the Lions front office for not recognizing that the two most important roles on the team (Head Coach & QB) were being filled by idiots.
Apparently Lomas Brown could see what WCF could not.

Yeah, but I don't know if I would put him on my Lions Mount Rushmore.

I'll likely power-nap through that one on the couch while the kids check it out on Netflix 10 months from now.

I'm sure you can find that in IMAX
You can give them the back story and they'll get all stoked up to see it.
Cause when I was growing up all I had was the Mickey Mouse club. They had to open a magic safe to get to the cartoon. Mighty Mouse would get knocked around for a while til they started messing with his girlfriend. Then he would do 5 or 6 cats...cartoon over.
Then I moved in with my dad and he wouldn't let me watch TV. According to him,"cause I know he'll try it."

Sounds like K. Moore scored to Peacock with less than a minute on clock.
Winn was running nice then fumbled.

It was Fuller not Peacock who scored.

I like the way Kellen Moore was able to run the 2 minute offense after the botched snap on the previous series of downs. I know he was playing against 2nd and third string, and the new 5 yard penalty rule was in play, but he did look a little better than Dan Orlovsky in moving the team. Dan looked tentative in his passing and I have have to wonder if Moore will get more snaps in the next game.

Love it how the Browns announcers were calling the "bad snap fumble" the play of the game..........I know it was just preseason but glad to see the Lions fans get a chance to cheer at the team slowing down The Johnny Football express. Although he did get his named mentioned in the NFL Net post game summary 20 times compared to Moore's one mention....

ESPN and the AP are really something. An in-depth breakdown of Manziell's top plays (all two of them), in fact his MONSTER 16-yard scramble gets double billing in both the lead and in the summary below, with stats and everything ("the longest run of the game") Bottom line, it was a 16-yard run, not worth talking about unless it was a touchdown run or a clutch play that led to a touchdown. For that matter, Manziell's entire performance was very pedestrian, very comparable to the starter Hoyer's performance, but you'd be surprised to discover that based on how much of the recap was devoted to his non-performance. Clearly Hoyer is getting the shaft with the full-court press being applied by the media to get Manziell the starting gig. He could lead them to a Super Bowl this year and Manziell would still probably get more coverage than Hoyer. And the actual results of the actual game get buried in between Manziell time. This is starting out well...

Johnny Manzeal >Tim Tebow deal with it.
For Caldwell to say Dan O is #2 was a spit in the face of K.Moore.
