    The Big Ten /Rose Bowl Champion Michigan State Spartans had quite a recruiting year and at the forefront is Malik McDowell.

    The impressive young man stuck to his guns and gets his mother to finally agree to sign his commitment to MSU.

    It looks like a relatively easy schedule this year but you never can tell.

    Vs Jacksonville State
    @Oregon
    Vs Eastern Michigan
    Vs Wyoming
    Vs Nebraska
    @Purdue
    @Indiana
    Vs Michigan
    Vs. Ohio State
    @Maryland
    Vs Rutgers
    @Penn State
    Big Ten championship game???

    All of those games are winnable but you've got to figure there will be some bumps in the road.

    I think the road game against Oregon will be tough to win. They've got Ohio State and Michigan (again) at home but I would imagine that one with OSU will be challenging. Throw in another random Big 10 loss and that's 9-3. 6-2 Big Ten. But who knows? Maybe better. Maybe worse.

    You forgot the NCAA Semifinal and Final playoff games on your schedule.

    13 - 0 may not be enough...unless they spank Oregon.

    They wil start off with a high ranking so I think 12-1 would actually be sufficient because the only reason the Notre Dame blip hurt them was because they began the year so low in the rankings. That being said, while I'm confident they are going to have a good season it would be pretty tough to do quite that well.

    Last year they did fantastic. I hope this year is fun too. They've earned my confidence so you won't see me " hide behind the sofa" or beotch this year UNLESS they implode and I really don't think that will happen. I've got the locker room Big Ten championship hat and wear it proudly. I should've waited for the Rose Bowl championship one but who knew?

    1. I hope they start off with a high ranking. They need to mop up in the pre Big Ten games.
    2. Detteam actually spotted you under the bed, behind a dust ruffle.
    3. I called that victory 42 days before the game was played...called both teams too.

    Glad to see you're gonna root for the Green and White.
    I'd like to see a prediction also...in a few months.

    What a joke. Rankings are so biased they are stupid. Unfortunately it hurts some teams in the process. MSU had been ridiculously superior to Michigan the last several seasons but these rankings refuse to respect the Spartans. Michigan, despite showing very little, if anything the last few years gets a much higher ranking than MSU or deserved because they went to the Rose Bowl ages ago. Bulletin board material. Hopefully U of M pays on the field once again.

    The problem is that if the real polls follow suit MSU will get screwed out of a shot at the championship if they lose even one game. Oh well, they will just need to be satisfied with a second consecutive shot at the Rose Bowl.

    The Spartans do catch a break playing Michigan at home two years straight.

    I've followed Michigan football forever. Back in the 70s, they won more games than any Division 1A program.
    Never worried about the National Championship because BO instilled the Rose Bowl as the ultimate prize.
    Seemed like the team was always destined to lose a game each year that they shoulda won.
    From then...until Rich Rod...the team seemed to surf close enough to the elite.
    Because of that...and the fact that the program had integrity...I never got concerned about anything else.
    Now...I'm not sure of the team's destiny anymore. It's hard to say where they'll finish.
    It HAS been fun rooting for MSU though. They got lucky in finding a quality coach.

    I guess now...most will hope every year to have a shot at the NCAA playoffs.
    For me...The Big Ten championship game is still the ultimate.

    Hopefully...the Spartans are on top for the for-see-able future.

    Don't really care where UM or MSU are ranked.
    Just gotta go out there and ENJOY the season.

    These days you have several programs that are competitive and able to rake in talent. Agree on coach plus a great A.D. The difference between last years success and the prior years failure was 13 points in 5 games, I think? Oregon may be a killer but I like Spartys chances the rest of the season .

    2014 Preseason College Football Top 25

    Michigan State Ranks #5 here...

    Oregon Ranks #8...close by.

    Michigan is Ranked #20...always there...

    ON the road should make the game a toss-up.

    Lately, Oregon has been losing important games...and has lost their elite status in the Pac Ten.

    MSU has been pounding good programs lately...including a come from behind victory against OSU.

    Gotta love the tension that week 2 will bring...gotta make a prediction this summer for that contest...

    I saw the list, but didn't think it was worthy of this thread.
    Anyways, OSU lost 4 of 5 of their offensive linemen for this season.
    Their leading rusher, Carlos Hyde (1,500 yards) has moved on.
    So has Corey Brown, their leading receiver....also.

    Braxton Miller has reinjured his shoulder and may not be able to
    play for any of this fall season. If this holds up, then OSU should finish with
    4-5 losses for the season.

    I haven't made any prediction yet this season for MSU, but having the biggest
    non-conference game in all of college football will be daunting for Sparty.
    Having to go on the road and represent the Big Ten is their biggest non-conference game
    since playing ND in 1966 for the national championship.

    If Sparty wins that one, then Coach Dantonio will have then in the championship
    playoffs this season...

    Oh, really? And when were YOU, nemo the wise, appointed the honor of deciding what IS worthy of going into a thread and what is NOT ? :doener: :bs::lame: Oh puleeeze! Perhaps it is because it marked Michigan as the laughing stock of NCAA division one football for losing AT HOME to the equivalent of a community college from BFE? :post-sucks::takeitout: :laugh::roflmao:
