After winning their first two games and grabbing the 24th spot in the ranking, the Wolverines ran into a very good Xavier squad. The student section must have sold a bunch of their tickets the Xavier students because it seen like they were out cheering the Wolverine fans. Xavier ran the Wolverines out of the gym by out hustling and out shooting the Wolves.

Hopefully this loss at home will get them back in the swing of things....as they will need to put together 4 -5 more wins if they hope to get back into the top 25 before conference play.

Sometimes an early season loss will give a team a much-needed wake-up call. I like Beilein. He will coach em up.

They were the only local team to lose last night. The look on their faces seem somewhat distraught so hopefully the coach reviews the tapes in detail to prepare them for UCONN and Gonzaga in the Bahamas next week.

Michigan nets big win over No. 3 Maryland, 70-67

No Caris LeVert..no problem, as Michigan held on to upset third ranked Maryland who entered the game with a 15-1 record. It may not get the 13-4 Wolverines back in the top 25 yet, but a win over this supposed elite team will be added to their resume when it comes time for the at-large big dance tickets to be handed out.

I hate Maryland. Lefty is always around like a bad smell in the back corner of your house.

Please explain how a team as good as Michigan thought they were? gives up a 25-0 run in their own gym? Too many B celebrities in the arena and the Wolverines giving up points as if the 3rd string was out there playing. They jumped off to a 15-4 lead over Indiana and now find themselves down 45-24 at the half..... Yep were outscored 41-9 since that opening run of their own.

Maybe another B celebrity like Chris Webber should have been invited.

Did he get his new key to the arena yet or is he still locked out?

Hopefully none of the football recruits there hanging out with the Harbaugh family don't change their minds after seeing the BB team get embarrassed.....

The NCAA ordered Michigan to ban him til 2013.
I believe he's continuing to lay low and stay away.
He did make over 150 million during his career...so he is busy with that and other worthy ventures.

Harbaugh probably took off his shirt and climbed up to the rim to distract the recruits.

Maybe they were just looking ahead to their Saturday match-up with the Spartans??? Never have I seen so many easy back door layups.

Question: When was the last time Michigan beat Michigan State in either football or basketball?

The Spartan football team was just better coached and had better athletes the past 5+ years. The jury is out but everyone will expect a shift in powers between Spartan Stadium and the Big House in the next 2 years.

As far as the basketball team...better coaching at MSU and a conundrum at Michigan. as the so called stars won't stay past 2 seasons and only seniors are the guys who never got off the bench their first two seasons. Don't know if it is coach B that the players are running away from or their agents, parents and press clippings are convincing them to look for the early payday. None of them are flirting with all-star appearances, but another year or 2 at M would have paid off in more wins for the school (maybe national championship) and probably a higher rookie paycheck.

I'm not sure what you mean by a "shift in powers". Personally, I do not think MSU is going away, although I believe the Wolverines will also continue to improve. I DO believe that MSU will have a "down year" next season and all the Wolverineteers will be dancing in the streets and believing things will go back to the status quo of most of the last few decades. I think as long as both coaches remain our teams will continue to thrive and it will be tit for tat. Perhaps not. But that is my belief.

I have to give credit where credit is due. Michigan coach Bellein was an exceptionally gracious loser in his press conference. :yo::thumb:
