EAST LANSING — Michigan State University trustees unanimously voted Wednesday to extend the contracts of Athletic Director Mark Hollis, men's basketball coach Tom Izzo, men's hockey coach Tom Anastos and women's basketball coach Suzy Merchant.

The vote was expected to be, and largely was, a formality. The trustees generally approve one-year extensions to coaches' contracts on an annual basis.

Izzo, who made about $3.8 million in total compensation in 2013-14, had his contract extended to June 30, 2021.

Hollis, whose base pay is $600,000 annually, had his contract extended until June 30, 2019.

Anastos, who makes about $325,000 annually, has his contract extended to June 30, 2018.

Merchant, who made about $340,000 2013-14, had her contract extended to June 30, 2019.

Great news for Michigan State today
    _________

Five-star shooting guard Josh Langford, who is No. 13 overall in the ESPN 100, has informed ESPN.com that he has committed to coach Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans on Monday.

Langford had also considered Auburn, Georgia, Arizona, Duke, Kentucky, Alabama, Stanford, Mississippi State and Texas.

"I did a lot of praying and consulting with God about it. Michigan State had been there since I was a freshman," Langford said. "I just felt a connection with head coach Tom Izzo more than any other coach I talked to on the phone or spoke with in person."

Langford is a strong and skilled guard who excels on and off the ball and can score. Ranked as the best player in the state of Alabama and the No. 2 overall shooting guard in the class, Langford has all the tools to be an immediate impact player for the Spartans.

Langford joins four-star center Nick Ward in the Spartans' 2016 class, giving Izzo two ESPN 100 selections. Ward checks in at No. 42 overall.

Heard of a coming rule change that will allow players to go to the NBA combine to be evaluated and be allowed to return to their university and team if they choose.

    Makes sense

Add a couple more big programs Langford had offers from...
    ______

The 6-foot-6, 200-pound Langford picked Michigan State over offers from Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, Arizona and Michigan.

    Spartans land five-star Langford

I believe this guy is serious about Michigan State and Izzo's program, and won't pull a Swanigan

EAST LANSING – Draymond Green's love for Michigan State goes back to childhood and watching his aunt Annette Babers star for the Michigan State women's basketball team.

It continued as a grade-school kid cheering on fellow Saginaw native Jason Richardson as he helped the Spartans win the 2000 national championship. It became personal through four seasons playing for Tom Izzo – picking up three Big Ten titles, two Final Four appearances and one Big Ten Player of the Year nod along the way – and Green has remained tightly connected with the program amid his rise to NBA champion.

Today, he expressed those feelings in zeroes – on a $3.1 million check to MSU athletics in support of the men's basketball program. Green and MSU made the announcement at a press conference at Breslin Center.

The gift is the largest single gift to MSU athletics from a former MSU athlete. The Draymond Green Strength and Conditioning Center at the Jack Breslin Student Events Center will be named in his honor.

The gift, pending board of trustees approval, also will fund an endowment for the men's basketball program.

Michigan State basketball got arguably its biggest commitment in more than a decade Saturday.

Huntington (W.Va.) Prep small forward Miles Bridges committed to the Spartans on Saturday afternoon during a ceremony at Mott Community College in Flint, Mich.

In front of family and friends, the 6-foot-6, 218-pound Bridges chose the Spartans over finalists Kentucky and Indiana. He also had offers from North Carolina, Kansas, Louisville, Florida, Connecticut and West Virginia among many others.

Bridges, the No. 12 player and No. 3 small forward in the nation, is a Flint native and grew up watching Michigan State.

Now, he will be the latest player from Flint to head to East Lansing, joining the likes of Mateen Cleaves, Charlie Bell, Morris Peterson and Antonio Smith.

As for the 2016 class, Tom Izzo now has assembled one of the best in his tenure at Michigan State. The four-man group ranks No. 1 overall with Bridges joining the fold.

I misstated. He's the 4th Spartan to record at least one triple double. Apparently Magic had something like 8 of them.
