I think Aff can be better than just a backup. You gotta love a guy that asks for a defensive challenge and delivers. During Joe's post draft interview one of the first things he said in reference to drafting Aff was that the kid was a TOUGH COMPETITOR, and he clearly demonstrated that in the SL game.
I loved the kids quote today when he said he has to show he can stop guys like Nick Young if he's gonna play in the NBA. Man this dude has IT!!!!
I think it will be easier for him when the D is sagging off of him to cover guys like Chauncey, Rip, Sheed, etc. In the Summer League, he's one of the main focuses of the defense. He's probably the most widely known player on the roster being the leading scorer of a team that has made deep tournament runs the last 2 years. He won't have to worry about creating his own offense nearly as much in the big league. He'll just have to concentrate on catching and shooting.
I think he's just a Delfino upgrade. Tough D and will hit the weakside spot up jumper. Basically what Carlos would do on a good day. Aff may do it with more consistency and with more optimism.
Could one day be that defensive stopper that Hunter use to be... and lets give him his offical piston nickname name as Alf . Its hard trying to type in allfoolo , or Afflolo or Aflalo when discussing him. Can everyone agree on that.?
Thinking about his name..... Sort of sounds like the phrase "I Foul Low" Which would of course be referring to Eric Snow. We could call him the "Snow Man"! Cause he cools the opponents down! <crickets> Alright.....I'm all for Alf.
His middle name is Agustin, so how about Triple A. That way we can differentiate between AA (ack) and AAA (aff)
